Are you passionate about Japanese entertainment and want to help shape what millions of customers watch on Prime Video? The Prime Video Japan Content Acquisition team is looking for a Content Acquisition Manager to secure subscription video on demand (SVOD) licensing rights across Japanese live action TV (drama, variety show), Anime TV&Movie, and other content genres. You will negotiate directly with content rights holders — including movie studios, anime productions, TV networks, and aggregators — to build a content library that delights customers in Japan.

Key job responsibilities
- Negotiate and execute SVOD content licensing agreements with content holders across various business models, including flat fee licensing, pay per hour, pay for performance, and other structures.
- Manage content selection and licensing mix across multiple categories to maximize customer satisfaction, using data on customer behavior, usage, and consumption to inform acquisition decisions.
- Establish and manage strong relationships with content providers, serving as a primary point of contact for partner engagement.
- Develop content acquisition plans, financial metrics, and goals for senior management, and collaborate with internal teams (legal, finance, marketing) to define content strategies and support content promotion activities.
- Obtain approval from licensors to use creative assets and coordinate with marketing teams to ensure smooth content launches.

A day in the life
- Review performance data on recently launched titles to assess acquisition impact
- Project key metrics for content opportunities — estimated new customer acquisition, viewing hours, and license cost efficiency
- Build business cases and approval documentation to secure internal greenlight on deals
- Draft and finalize contracts in collaboration with legal teams
- Coordinate launch planning with marketing and external stakeholders to ensure smooth content rollouts

About the team
The Prime Video Japan Content Acquisition team drives both SVOD and transactional video on demand strategies, curating diverse entertainment including movies, anime, TV dramas, Korean content, music, and sports. You will work alongside content strategists and marketing professionals focused on delivering compelling viewing experiences to Japanese customers.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of experience in content licensing, content acquisition, business development, or a related commercial role within the media/entertainment industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Japanese (native-level or equivalent)
- Proficiency with business productivity tools (e.g., MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working at or directly with broadcast networks or TV production companies
- Experience negotiating and executing complex licensing or legal agreements
- Strong analytical skills with experience using data to drive business decisions
- Business-level fluency in English (spoken, written, and reading)
