This position is being advertised contingent upon award; while the recruitment process will proceed as part of organizational preparedness, no formal offer will be extended until funding is confirmed Program Summary: Project HOPE is providing humanitarian assistance to the conflict-affected population in Gaza. The current response portfolio focuses on Health, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, Protection, and WASH programming through Project HOPE programs and local partnerships. POSITION SUMMARY: The Communications Assistant supports the implementation of communication and visibility activities for Project HOPE’s Gaza programming. Reporting to the Communications Officer, the role assists in content development, media coordination, documentation, and administrative support to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent communication outputs. The Communications Assistant plays a key role in gathering field content, organizing communication materials, and supporting internal and external visibility efforts in line with organizational branding and safeguarding standards. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Content Support Documentation Support the development of communication materials including success stories, human-interest stories, social media content, and program updates. Assist in conducting interviews with program staff and beneficiaries, under the guidance of the Communications Officer. Draft initial versions of content pieces for review and finalization by the Communications Officer. Organize and maintain photo libraries, consent forms, and communication archives. Ensure proper documentation and filing of communication products in line with organizational procedures. Media Visibility Support Assist in coordinating media visits, interviews, and field missions. Support logistical arrangements and preparation of briefing materials for media engagements. Help monitor media coverage and compile media tracking reports. Ensure visibility materials (banners, branding materials, donor acknowledgements) are properly prepared and displayed at program sites. Social Media Digital Communications Support the drafting and scheduling of social media content in coordination with the Communications Officer. Monitor online engagement and compile basic analytics reports. Ensure that digital content aligns with organizational messaging, branding, and safeguarding standards. Emergency Rapid Communications Support Assist in gathering and compiling information during emergencies or program disruptions. Support preparation of situation updates, key messages, and communication briefs as directed. Coordination Administrative Support Coordinate with program teams to collect photos, testimonials, and updates from field activities. Maintain communication trackers, content calendars, and reporting logs. Support procurement or coordination of communication-related materials when required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. 0-1 years of relevant experience in communications, media, public relations, or content development; experience in the humanitarian or NGO sector is an advantage. Strong writing and editing skills in Arabic; good working proficiency in English required. Basic photography and/or videography skills are an asset. Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content management tools. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and understanding of humanitarian principles.
