Position Overview
Commodity Manager, Capex and MRO in Magna International Purchasing Asia Team takes the major responsibility for identification and execution of synergy cost reductions across Magna’s Groups, as well as the establishment, implementation, and constant improvement of commodity and supplier strategy of Capex and MRO.
Job Responsibility
Synergy identification, promotion, implementation and realization
- Dive deep into the demand of the capex and MROs from different Groups of Magna, and identify opportunities for volume bundling, or specification standardization
- Effectively promote potential synergy projects, establish project teams and proactively organize cross-groups discussions and alignment
- Analyze synergy opportunities, set up cost saving targets and timelines, define implementation milestones and measures.
- Lead and conduct internal and external benchmarking, bundling bidding, negotiations, till finalization of contracts
- Drive the executions in Groups, and monitor the actualization of negotiation results and signed contract
- Report to regional and global team regularly the progress and results
Commodity strategy formation and execution
- Conduct internal demand analysis cross Groups
- Conduct external supply market study, and current supply base study cross Groups
- Define category positioning, and supplier strategy
- Dive deep into cost drivers and define cost saving measures in strategy paper and constantly drive cost reductions actions
- Support global strategy development by providing Asia input
- Organize technical events (technology workshop, innovation days, etc) with suppliers and capture supplier-enabled innovation
- Establish and share supply market intelligence with Groups
Project and operational tasks
- Support oversea plants to source Asia/China suppliers, launch RFQs, negotiate price, payment terms, contracts etc
- Other tasks assigned by the superior when needed
Qualifications
Knowledge and Education: Bachelor's degree or above
Work Experience
- Minimum 10 years purchasing experiences in multi-national automotive companies
- Minimum 7 years experience managing capex and MRO commodities from strategy to execution
- Hands-on experiences in leading synergy cost reduction projects cross business units most preferred
Managerial Experience: Team management experience is a bonus
