Job Summary The Officer, Traffic Management Systems (TMS) – Technical is responsible for providing solution expertise for Service Reliability Strategy (SRS), Optional Services, Fleet Productivity System (FPS), Automatic Equipment Identification (AEI), and Service Scheduling. The incumbent provides technical expertise to TMS - Business and Tables Group, Network Operations, Service Design, Bulk Operations, Regional Operation Centers, Transportation, Car Management, Train Reporting, and Customer Service Centers using transportation systems. The position investigates issues and proposes modifications and enhancements that add value to groups which use transportation systems. The incumbent gathers and develops end user requirements for system changes as well as prioritizes, coordinates, and monitors progress for system changes. The position creates job aids and procedural documents. Main Responsibilities · Act as the technical systems expert for TMS Business and Tables Group, Network Operations, Service Design, Regional Operation Centres, Transportation, Train Reporting, and Service Delivery Centres using transportation systems · Support various initiatives assigned to the TMS group, including safety and regulatory compliance, acquisitions, de-integrations, and partnering with shortline railways · Investigate issues with transportation systems · Perform data analysis to assess problems and systems behavior · Identify, develop, and write user requirements for system changes · Prioritize, coordinate, and monitor progress for system changes · Ensure on-time delivery and compliance with specifications · Perform user acceptance testing for system changes · Document business rules and processes · Develop technical and working job aids Working Conditions The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular work week Monday to Friday. The incumbent must be available to work shifts and weekends on a rotating basis to respond to critical incidences. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress. The role requires minimal travel (up to 10%) across CN’s network for on-site support, table change initiatives, and projects assigned to the TMS group. Requirements Experience Railway Industry · Minimum 3 years of railway experience, or equivalent Education/Certification/Designation · High School Diploma · Valid Driver’s License · Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Management or Computer Science* *Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset Competencies · Leads by example for the safety and security of all · Considers ESG principles in all operations · Demonstrates active listening · Solves problems to create value · Collaborates with others and shares information · Promotes diversity and equity · Sets direction and inspires others · Communicates with impact · Applies critical thinking · Demonstrates agility and drives change Technical Skills/Knowledge · Knowledge of SRS including operating and reporting, AEI, Rail Traffic Control (RTC), and Wi-Tronix, MRS. · Fluently bilingual both written and verbal an asset (English, French)* · Knowledge of railway operations and processes* · Data analysis skills* *Any knowledge for any of the above would be considered as an asset
