Environmental Health & Safety Manager (Manufacturing & Distribution)

Clover Lakeville Plant April 21, 2026 Full Time

As a purpose-driven, certified B corporation, Clover is leading the way for conscious businesses by demonstrating care for all stakeholders and moving the world forward. We are committed to lowering our environmental impact and meeting our sustainability targets, by providing kids and adults with healthy, nutritious, and delicious products that are made with care for animals, people, and the planet.

About the Role

Lead Safety Where It Matters Most — From Farm to Finished Product

We’re looking for a hands-on, driven, Cal/OSHA-certified Industrial EHS Manager who thrives in fast-paced food manufacturing and distribution environments—and understands the unique demands of dairy operations, from production floors to cold chain distribution.

This is not a desk job. You’ll work closely with Operations across the entire value chain—from production to warehouse to distribution (including DOT compliance)—with a consistent presence on the floor. You’ll operate in cold environments, around high-speed processing and packaging lines, and in distribution spaces, partnering directly with teams to build a culture where safety and food quality go hand in hand.

Reporting directly to the COO, this is a high-impact leadership role with visibility across the organization. You will be responsible for managing EHS programs in full compliance with Cal/OSHA regulatory requirements, while partnering closely with Operations and HR leadership to proactively identify and eliminate safety risks. This role plays a critical part in shaping and advancing safety strategy and driving effective safety programming in collaboration with HR—ensuring that every product leaving our facility is produced safely, responsibly, and in compliance with the highest standards.

A Day in the Life

What You’ll Own

  • Lead and evolve EHS programs across dairy manufacturing and distribution operations, ensuring compliance with Cal/OSHA, FDA, DOT, and environmental regulations.

  • Partner with Distribution Management and HR to manage and continuously improve driver safety programs in accordance with DOT requirements, including oversight of safety practices for regional and route drivers.

  • Be a visible, trusted partner on the floor—coaching teams, identifying risks, and driving real-time improvements.

  • Champion a strong safety culture in environments that include wet processing areas, cold storage, high-speed production lines, and distribution operations.

  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses across production, warehouse, and transportation functions.

  • Investigate incidents and near misses with a focus on root cause and prevention—not just compliance.

  • Partner with HR Business Partners and Talent Leadership to design and deliver engaging, practical safety training, including LOTO, machine guarding, ergonomics, confined space, PPE, and driver safety programs.

  • In partnership with HR, lead regulatory interactions, including Cal/OSHA inspections, DOT compliance activities, and other agency requirements.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce injuries and elevate operational and transportation safety performance

  • Partner closely with Quality and Food Safety teams to support HACCP programs, GMPs, and SQF audit readiness

  • Partner closely with HR Business Partners and the People Operations team to both execute and continuously improve safety programs, ensure California regulatory compliance, and support employee relations, workers’ compensation, and return-to-work programs—while contributing to broader, enterprise-wide compliance and people initiatives.

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Food Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 4–6 years of hands-on EHS experience in industrial environments, specifically within food manufacturing and/or distribution

  • Strong working knowledge of Cal/OSHA regulations and compliance requirements (required)

  • Cal/OSHA-related training (IIPP, LOTO, confined space, hazard communication)

  • Direct experience with HACCP principles and implementation in a food manufacturing environment

  • Familiarity with SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards and experience working within an SQF- or GFSI-certified facility

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience working directly on production floors and warehouse/logistics environments

  • Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions

  • Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to engage frontline employees and leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 30-hour (General Industry)

  • Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, CIH, or CHMM

  • Cal/OSHA-related training (IIPP, LOTO, confined space, hazard communication)

  • Food safety certifications such as HACCP certification, PCQI, or SQF Practitioner training

  • Experience supporting SQF audits, GMP programs, and food safety compliance initiatives

  • Experience in dairy processing environments (pasteurization, sanitation systems, cold chain logistics)

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Direct reporting line to the COO with real influence on operations

  • Opportunity to shape safety culture in a mission-driven food production environment

  • Work at the intersection of employee safety and food safety—where your impact is visible every day

  • High level of cross-functional partnership with Operations, QA, and People teams

Work Environment

  • Regular presence on the production floor and in warehouse environments

  • Exposure to typical dairy/food manufacturing conditions (temperature variations, machinery, noise, wet environments)
