Client-Facing Forward Deployed Engineer

Visual Alpha is a B2B fintech startup that provides a SaaS data service to institutional investors and asset managers.
**Responsibilities:**
Act as the product expert in front of clients, bridging business needs and engineering execution.
Analyze client workflows and requirements, and translate ambiguous needs into clear technical and functional specs.
Design and refine client-specific workflows and produce solution proposals covering architecture, data flows, and scope.
Partner with sales on deal strategy and pre-sales, and unblock technical objections.
Work with engineering to validate feasibility, prioritize requirements, and ensure delivery quality and schedule.
Coordinate with support and delivery teams to ensure smooth onboarding, rollout, and post-go-live success.
Typical time allocation: sales support 30%, requirement analysis and proposal 40%, solution design 30%.
Requirements
Deep understanding of the investment management and broader financial services industry, including workflows and data structures.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently tackle complex issues.
Excellent solution design, proposal writing, and technical documentation skills.
Hands-on experience in large-scale system architecture and database design.
Self-motivated, client-oriented thinking, ability to learn new technologies quickly
Fluent Japanese proficiency with working-level English
Nice to haves
While not specifically required, tell us if you have any of the following.
Consulting and software development project management skill (significant advantage)
Strong at mathematical calculation and accounting knowledge (significant advantage)
Experience implementing various design patterns
Experience creating web-services and/or AI models
Compensation
¥7,000,000 ~ ¥9,000,000 annually.
