Sompo International is seeking a Claims Handler for Marine and Multiline in Switzerland to join our Claims team based in our Zurich office.

As part of our expanding Swiss team, this role will collaborate closely with the Head of Claims for Switzerland to support the growth and development of our Claims department, while contributing to the implementation of Sompo International's profitable growth strategy in the Swiss market.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Independent Management of Marine Claims
    • Handle the settlement of various types of marine claims across the entire value chain.
    • Develop effective solution strategies and negotiate settlements independently.
    • Engage, coordinate, manage, and oversee the work of experts, lawyers, and other service providers.
    • Collaborate with consortium partners, insured parties, brokers, and customers on both national and international levels.
    • Manage recourse claims independently.
    • Provide support for claims portfolio management in line with internal guidelines, including controlling and international reporting.
    • Assist the Country Claims Manager in claims-related projects, particularly with optimizing systems and processes.
  • Multi-Line Claims Handling
  • Take ownership of claims from other lines of business (e.g., Property, Casualty, Financial Lines, or other relevant sectors) to address ad hoc business needs and demonstrate flexibility.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Regularly liaise with underwriting, distribution teams, and other internal stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and alignment.
  • External Representation:
    • Represent Sompo International in discussions and presentations regarding marine claims and other occasional claims-related matters.
  • Knowledge Sharing
    • Participate actively in regional knowledge exchange initiatives and seminars focused on marine claims to stay updated on industry trend and best practices.

What you’ll bring:

  • 3-5+ years of experience working in Claims position in Marine Claims.
  • Experience in international Corporate Claims within global insurance programs
  • Good understanding of the insurance regulatory environment in Switzerland and its influence in business development, underwriting and claims management strategies
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills to effectively manage stakeholders at national and international levels.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Language skills: English and German requested, any other language is a plus.
