Children’s House Guide (Ages 3–6)
Position Summary
The Children’s House Guide leads a primary classroom (ages 3–6), nurturing the development of the whole child through purposeful work, ordered environment, and gentle, consistent
guidance. This individual helps lay the foundation for a child’s lifelong love of learning and faith.
Key Responsibilities
● Lead a Children’s House classroom with fidelity to the Montessori method
● Prepare and maintain a beautiful, orderly, and developmentally appropriate environment
● Implement the established Montessori scope and sequence of St. Monica’s Montessori, guiding each child toward growth in knowledge, independence, and virtue according to their development.
● Foster independence, concentration, and joyful engagement in work
● Integrate Catholic faith and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd into the classroom
● Collaborate with assistants and support staff
● Build strong, respectful relationships with parents
Assessment, Communication & Community Engagement
● Record weekly student progress in Montessori Compass
● Prepare and deliver end-of-semester student progress reports
● Conduct two goal-setting conferences with parents each year
● Lead at least one Parent Education & Formation (“PEP”) Night annually
● Participate in and support parent education events, including community potlucks
● Attend the Catholic Montessori Conference at the University of Mary
Additional Responsibilities
● Lead daily prayer and model a joyful Catholic life
● Supervise children throughout the day, including transitions and outdoor time
● Maintain a peaceful, safe, and orderly classroom environment
● Participate in school events and community life
● Engage in ongoing professional and spiritual formation
● Support the broader needs of the school as they arise
