Role summary
As a Data Engineer at Caruso, you'll sit at the heart of how we move fund managers from legacy systems onto our platform. You'll own complex data migrations end-to-end, working directly with clients and our Implementation, Customer Success, and Services teams to unlock better outcomes at every stage of the data lifecycle. This is a hands-on role with real client impact, and a rare opportunity to re-imagine how enterprise data migrations are done in a space that has barely changed in decades.
You'll report to the Data Engineer Lead, partnering closely on the tooling and workflows that make our migration process faster, more accurate, and more scalable. AI sits at the core of how we work. You'll actively use and help shape AI-powered approaches that turn historically painful, manual migrations into something dramatically more efficient for both our team and our clients.
What you'll do:
Lead complex data migration tasks for clients, validating, cleaning, and transforming data to ensure seamless transitions onto the Caruso platform.
Partner with the Implementation, Customer Success, and Services teams to identify and resolve data challenges, driving better outcomes for clients.
Work with the Data Engineer Lead to design, build, and implement advanced tools that leverage AI to re-imagine how enterprise data migrations are undertaken, applying modern tooling to problems that have traditionally been slow, manual, and error-prone, and improving speed, accuracy, and efficiency for internal teams and clients.
Implement and maintain robust information security protocols and controls throughout the data lifecycle, ensuring compliance with our Information Security Management System and safeguarding sensitive client data during migrations.
Investigate and resolve data quality issues, surfacing root causes and feeding learnings back into our tooling and processes.
Build strong working relationships with clients, acting as a trusted technical partner during critical migration moments.
What we’re looking for
Minimum of 2 years of experience in data engineering, data migration, or similar roles, preferably within SaaS or technology platforms.
Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, with hands-on experience in ETL processes and data transformation.
Solid understanding of data formats, database structures, and migration workflows.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and across internal teams.
A bias toward automation and tooling, always looking for ways to replace manual effort with well-built software.
Comfort using AI tools as part of your daily workflow, and curiosity about applying them to reshape how data migrations get done.
Exposure to fund administration, financial services, or similarly regulated domains is a bonus.
