Part-time | Fixed-term | Yoobee City Road Campus
Note: This is a 6-month fixed-term role based at our Auckland campus, working part-time hours (10 hours a week, Mondays and Tuesdays but can be flexible).
About the role:
The Capstone Project Supervisor mentors postgraduate students undertaking their research or applied industry project over a 15-week duration. The supervisor provides structured academic guidance, ensures scholarly standards, and supports students in achieving Level-9 learning outcomes through independent research, analysis, and professional application.
In this role, you will be assigned 10 students and will be expected to mentor them individually on a weekly basis. We currently have scheduled capstone engagement sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays, but supervisors may arrange meetings flexibly based on mutual availability with their students.
Key Responsibilities are (but not limited to):
Supervise postgraduate students, providing weekly structured academic guidance and support.
Lead project planning, scope definition, milestone tracking, and overall research progress.
Support students in research design, literature review, methodology, data analysis, and academic writing.
Provide timely, constructive feedback on drafts, reports, presentations, and assessments to ensure postgraduate standards.
Monitor progress, identify academic risks, and intervene with additional support where needed.
Ensure compliance with academic integrity, ethical research practice, and inclusive supervision, liaising with industry partners where applicable.
Required Skills/Experience:
- PhD in Business Informatics, Management, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related discipline (essential)
Prior postgraduate supervision, mentoring, or research guidance experience
Experience in applied research, consulting, or industry projects
Familiarity with research methodologies and academic writing
Strong mentoring and coaching ability
Excellent academic writing and feedback skills
Ability to manage multiple students simultaneously
High level of organisation and time management
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Commitment to academic integrity and ethical research practice
Respect for diversity and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
