Job Description

  • Define process requirements, metrologies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs), and lead machine buy-off and validation efforts for engineering builds and mass production.
  • Drive Design For Manufacturing (DFM) and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) with external vendors throughout the design phase.
  • Execute technical failure analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE) to resolve development issues and optimize troubleshooting.
  • Optimize vendor equipment and process development to ensure mass production goals for yield, reliability, and quality specifications are met.
  • Manage vendor performance and maintain on-site collaboration, which requires international travel.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of relevant experience in camera module process or new product development.
  • Experience in module integration processes for both variable and fixed focus cameras.
  • Experience managing vendors.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Optics, or a relevant field.
  • 10 years of relevant experience in camera module or system engineering.
  • Experience in design and development of module integration processes for 3D imaging systems and a track record of using failure analysis techniques (e.g., X-ray, CT scan, SEM).
  • Knowledge of DOE, statistical analysis (JMP), and process control methods (SPC, GR&R).
  • Knowledge in one of the following : lens active alignment, athermalization, adhesive material selection and application (dispensing and cure), semiconductor/electronic processes (SMT, wire bonding, die attach, wafer dicing, wafer backgrinding, packaging, PCB and Flexible circuit manufacturing) and injection molding, VCM manufacturing.
As a part of the Google Beam Camera team, you will architect, design, develop, validate and integrate camera subsystems for Google Beam products. As a Camera Process Development Engineer, you will take ownership of development and integration of high-performance camera systems.Google Beam is a true-to-life new communication technology from Google that allows people to feel like they’re having real face-to-face conversations, no matter the distance. Powered by realistic state-of-the-art 3D imaging and spatial audio and integrated with today’s leading remote video platforms, Google Beam enables you to be immersed in the moment, together. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$274,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
