The Station DRI team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior System Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced calibration and performance validation systems, focusing on touch and sensor subsystems within Apple products. You will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of test systems, from initial prototyping and design to successful deployment in high-volume manufacturing environments. You will collaborate closely with module design teams to define calibration and test procedures, and develop high-precision instrumentation and test systems optimized for efficient factory operation. This role demands a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to thrive under pressure. As a Senior Calibration and Test System Engineer, you will: - Lead the development of state-of-the-art measurement and calibration systems for touch and sensor technologies. - Introduce and integrate cutting-edge technologies to enhance test system capabilities and drive improvements in product quality. - Own all aspects of the test system, including hardware design, software development, vendor engagement, algorithm optimization, data analysis, and factory deployment. - Collaborate effectively with a diverse team of experienced engineers across various disciplines, including Systems Hardware, Product Design, Reliability, Software, and Operations. - Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on complex challenges.

Description

This position involves the design, specification, development, and deployment of specialized calibration and test systems for touch and sensor technologies. These systems are critical for ensuring optimal performance and meeting stringent quality standards during new product introduction (NPI) and mass production.

Minimum Qualifications

BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Proven programming skills in one or more of the following languages: C/C++, Objective-C, Lua, or Python. Proficiency in both written and verbal English communication. Demonstrated leadership skills and problem-solving abilities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts. Self-motivated and highly responsible, with a strong work ethic. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional, and fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of experience in consumer electronics product development and high-volume manufacturing, with a focus on touch and/or sensor technologies. Extensive experience with hardware testing, calibration, and test system bring-up, including test metrology design and validation. Familiarity with DFM and DFT principles. Deep understanding of touch sensing principles, sensor calibration techniques, and related instrumentation. Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Matlab, Python and JMP. Knowledge of embedded systems, hardware automation, and motion control. Experience with statistical analysis and process control methodologies. Familiarity with AI/ML applications in test and calibration is a big plus.
