Cable Engineer (50-75% National Travel)- Secret Cleared

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Cable Engineer to support U.S. Army network infrastructure programs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing, installing, testing, and maintaining both copper and fiber optic cabling systems in secure, mission-critical environments. This role requires a strong understanding of DoD standards, structured cabling systems, and the ability to work in both field and facility settings. Active Secret clearance or higher required.

 

This position features 50-75% national travel (on average two weeks travelling with two weeks off work).

Responsibilities:

  • Design, install, terminate, and test copper (CAT5e/CAT6/CAT6A) and fiber optic (single-mode and multi-mode) cabling systems
  • Perform cable routing, labeling, and documentation in accordance with Army and DoD standards
  • Conduct testing and certification of cabling infrastructure using tools such as OTDR, power meters, and cable analyzers
  • Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues across LAN/WAN infrastructure
  • Interpret technical drawings, network diagrams, and blueprints to support installation and upgrades
  • Support network infrastructure upgrades, expansions, and relocations across Army facilities
  • Maintain accurate documentation including as-built drawings, test results, and cable records
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI, NEC, and DoD Unified Facilities Criteria)
  • Coordinate with network engineers, system administrators, and project managers to support mission requirements
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on cabling systems
  • Adhere to all safety, security, and access control protocols when working in secure or classified environment
