Business Development Expert – High Net Worth (HNW) Are you enthusiastic about growing new business? Do you have experience handling relationships with high net worth clients? We're hiring! Aon South Africa is seeking a Business Development Specialist for our Personal Lines department, working on a hybrid basis from our Head Office in Sandton. This role focuses on new business and relationship management, with responsibilities including identifying, targeting, acquiring, and retaining profitable new HNW clients. What the day will look like Key Result Areas (KRAs) and Responsibilities: Sales – HNW Quote and conclude HNW sales in line with agreed targets. Proactively identify, research and qualify prospective HNW clients, using Wealth Planner, Private Broker and other third‑party referrals and additional lead sources. Schedule and conduct face‑to‑face or virtual meetings clients and partners. Present tailored value propositions and solutions according to client demands and risk profiles. Negotiate terms and close deals to achieve or exceed monthly and annual new business targets. Ensure ongoing relationship quality by coordinating with relevant teams and remain a key point of contact for strategic HNW matters. Hand over operational servicing of new clients to designated Private Brokers/service teams, ensuring a smooth and professional transition. Client Engagement and Relationship Coordination (Wealth Planners, Private Brokers & Third‑Party Partners) Manage the onboarding process for Wealth Planners, Private Brokers and other third‑party partners, ensuring a professional and flawless experience. Develop, expand, and sustain solid working connections with Wealth Planners, Private Brokers, and intermediaries to ensure a steady stream of high-quality HNW referrals. Act as the primary relationship interface between the organisation and Wealth Planners/Private Brokers for HNW insurance solutions. Provide consistent feedback to Wealth Planners, Private Brokers and other partners on referred business, conversion ratios and client outcomes. Hold regular engagement sessions (e.g. training, updates, joint client meetings) with Wealth Planners, Private Brokers and other partners to reinforce the value proposition and deepen relationships. Collaboration and Cross‑Selling Collaborate with Commercial, Corporate, Specialty and Human Capital teams to: Share leads, market intelligence and client insights. Identify cross‑sell and up‑sell opportunities into HNW and other business lines (where appropriate). Take part in collaborative client meetings and proposals when suitable. Participate in collaborative account planning for major HNW clients referred by Wealth Planners, Private Brokers, and other partners, ensuring coordination and preventing overlapping efforts Provide feedback to product and business development teams on emerging HNW client needs and market trends observed through partner channels. Activity Management and Reporting Plan and manage weekly activities to ensure enough client and partner contact. Ensure prospecting volume meets a minimum target for meetings per week. Maintain an accurate and up‑to‑date view of the sales pipeline in Salesforce, including stages, values and probabilities. Generate monthly activity, pipeline, and performance reports as requested by management. Monitor own performance against targets and take proactive steps to address gaps. Compliance, Risk and Governance Adhere to all relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies (e.g. advice, disclosure, Treating Customers Fairly, data privacy). Ensure all documentation, records and client interactions meet compliance and audit standards. Submit accurate and complete information to underwriting and operations to support sound risk selection. Address and resolve any compliance or quality issues identified in audits or review processes. Skills and experience that will lead to success Qualifications: Minimum NQF Level 4 in Short‑Term Insurance (or recognised equivalent). Relevant diploma or degree in business, finance, insurance or a related field (advantageous/preferred). All regulatory and industry certifications as mandated by law and company policy (e.g. FAIS or equivalent, where applicable). Knowledge: Strong understanding of insurance and/or financial products relevant to HNW clients. Ability to perform basic financial and risk analysis to structure appropriate solutions. Proficiency in using Salesforce for lead, activity and pipeline management. Valid driver’s license and own vehicle, with willingness to travel extensively for meetings with customers and collaborators. Experience: Minimum 5–10 years of experience in financial services/insurance sales, focusing heavily on securing new business and managing client relationships. Demonstrable experience working with HNW clients. Experience working through financial consultants, financial advisers or similar intermediary/partner channels.
