The Position
The PT Digital & Operational Excellence (PTE) organization works in partnership across major global business functions, establishing and implementing an overall Digital / Technology strategy. Our goal is to drive the delivery and scale of key data and digital solutions in support of Roche’s vision.
The Role
As a Business Analyst, you will be the critical link between complex business challenges and technical data solutions. You will elicit, analyze, and translate intricate business rules into clear functional and non-functional requirements that drive data engineering. By designing and maintaining conceptual and logical data models, you ensure our data products remain aligned with both business needs and global governance standards.
Working within a multidisciplinary team - alongside Data Product Owners, SMEs, and Data Engineers - you will provide the blueprint for the curation, integration, and transformation of data that powers the future of healthcare.
The Opportunity
In your role as a Business Analyst, you will lead the evaluation and documentation of business processes, workflows, and mapping rules. You will translate complex business logic into technical requirements, identify necessary adjustments to the Data Warehouse (DWH) schema, and assist in integrating new datasets into existing architectures.
Furthermore, your focus will be on:
Integrity & Compliance: Ensure all solutions meet rigorous data integrity, security, and validation standards.
Product Development: Drive feature development (new sources, tech evaluation, and infrastructure innovation) and support business-led data cleansing initiatives.
Operational Support Excellence: Conduct root-cause analysis for incidents, evaluate business impact, and initiate problem-solving activities (Hotfixes/Changes).
Quality & Testing: Design test layouts and execute testing; define Data Quality KPIs and manage monitoring dashboards.
Standardization: Contribute to standardization initiatives to ensure scalability.
Who You Are
For this role, you hold a degree in Pharmacy, Biotechnology, or a related field. Additionally, you bring more than 3 years of experience in Pharma Technical Operations and have a proven track record in project work within the pharmaceutical industry—including a solid understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., GMP, FDA) and quality systems.
The following qualifications round off your profile:
Data Architecture, Programming and Visualization: basic proficiency in UMP or BPMN for requirement gathering, SQL/fundamental Python for data extraction, transformation and visualisation by e.g. Tableau, PowerBI. Ability to design conceptual and logical data models that align business entities with technical database structures. Experience with business facing systems line SAC, SAP GUI, ELN, LIMS, MES, LES is a plus.
Analytical Architect: You are skilled at understanding technical processes and translating them into actionable business insights.
Agile Practitioner: You are fluent in e.g. Jira, HP ALM, and Agile delivery methodologies.
Continuous Improver: You are a self-starter who proactively seeks to optimize processes, tools, and organizational workflows.
Strong Communicator: You excel at coaching others and possess fluent English skills (written and spoken) to navigate a global stakeholder landscape.
Quality Mindset: Familiarity with test automation processes and a rigorous approach to data qualification.
