Responsibilities

The Associate Underwriter - Casualty will work in a team setting underwriting and servicing new and renewal accounts for the development and retention of our Casualty Lines business.  Strong focus on renewals.

 

  • Production and underwriting of new and renewal account business of the following classes: Construction, Products, Liquor Liability, Habitational, Amusements, and OL&T.
  • Compliance with underwriting documentation rules and guidelines.
  • Maintain an acceptable underwriting profit.
  • Adherence to Admiral underwriting guidelines and referral compliance.
  • Development and maintenance of key broker/agent relationships.
  • Deliver timely and accurate quotes and endorsements to brokers, ensuring responsive and reliable service.
  • Participates in all internal company training and continuing education.
  • Attends strategic marketing calls to key brokers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Completed coursework toward a Risk Management and Insurance Degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience underwriting Commercial Lines, with proficiency handling complex and high-hazard risks.
  • Applicable coursework toward attainment of a CPCU or other related Insurance Designation(s) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the E&S marketplace.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial E&S Casualty strongly preferred.
  • Ability to understand and execute priorities including underwriting appetite, limit management and mix of business, broker strategy, and pricing/rate strategy.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical proficiency is required.

The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees which for this role includes: Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. Eligible to participate in the annual discretionary bonus program. Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, Wellness, Paid Time Off, 401(k) and Profit-Sharing plans.
