Associate Principal – Operations and Growth

We are currently seeking am Associate Principal with a focus on both Operations and Growth to join our San Francisco studio.

Key Areas of Focus:

  • Office Leadership & Management:
    • Provide leadership to the regional office, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
    • Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency, productivity, and alignment with company objectives.
    • Implement and maintain company policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Mentor and develop staff, promoting professional growth and ensuring a high-performing team.
  • Financial Management:
    • Achieve regional budgets targeting [% accuracy] alignment between projected and actual revenue budgets.
    • Ensure regional Billable Hour Ratio (BHR) targets are met, maintaining % accuracy adherence to set benchmarks.
    • Monitor and analyze financial performance, including revenue, expenses, and profitability, taking corrective actions as necessary.
    • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial strategies to align with 10Design regional protocols
  • BHR Targets Met:
    • Ensure the regional Billable Hour Ratio meets or exceeds established targets of 85%, optimizing staff utilization and profitability.
  • Operational Efficiency:
    • Improve operational processes to enhance efficiency and reduce overhead costs.
  • Design Oversight:
    • Lead and oversee key design projects, ensuring they meet the 10Design standards for quality, sustainability, and client satisfaction.
    • Collaborate with project teams including consultants to deliver exceptional architectural solutions that fulfill client needs and advance the firm's reputation.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, integrating cutting-edge practices and technologies into the firm's design approach.
    • Lead the conceptual and schematic design phases of projects, ensuring innovative and high-quality outcomes.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate technical solutions into the design concept.
    • Oversee design presentations to clients, stakeholders, and at public forums.
  • Compliance & Professional Development:
    • Obtain California, Texas and Florida architectural registrations to expand the firm's capabilities and geographic reach.
    • Ensure all projects comply with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.
    • Promote continuous learning and professional development within the team, encouraging participation in relevant training and certification programs.
  • Team Development:
    • Successfully mentor and develop staff, resulting in increased employee satisfaction and retention rates.
  • Business Development & Sales:
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the firm's market presence with a focus on the broader Texas market.
    • Develop and maintain strong client relationships to secure new projects in CA, TX and FL.
    • Create and implement strategic business development plan in coordination with the broader 10D Five Year plan with measurable metrics of success.
    • Attend industry conferences and networking events to promote the firm and generate leads.
  • Office Growth & Support:
    • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the SF, Dallas, and Miami offices.
    • Mentor and develop junior architects and staff to build a strong, cohesive team.
    • Implement best practices and operational efficiencies to enhance office performance.
    • Maintain awareness and active pursuit of aging account receivables.
  • Performance Metrics & KPIs:
    • Regional Growth Initiatives: Achieve targeted percentage (%) growth in the firm's regional markets.
    • New Accounts Signed: Secure a specified number of new accounts in new sectors such as mixed-use developments.
    • Revenue Growth: Attain a percentage (%) increase in fees compared to 2023, enhancing the firm's financial performance.
    • Lead Generation: Increase the number of leads and opportunities in the sales pipeline.
    • Architectural Registrations Obtained: Acquire necessary registrations to practice in additional states or regions.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture plus eight years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years of project management experience in architectural projects and experience in project leadership on complex architectural projects.
  • NCARB Certification and LEED Accreditation.
  • Proficiency in Revit and other BIM tools.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; adaptable to various audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
