POSITION SUMMARY

RBNY and its related affiliates are seeking a detail-oriented, business-minded junior attorney to serve as Associate Counsel for Red Bull New York in Harrison, New Jersey. This role is responsible for independently managing day-to-day contract intake, drafting, and contract lifecycle administration for a high volume of agreements across the organization, while working closely with the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel on risk assessment, escalation, and legal strategy. In addition, this position supports the Deputy General Counsel in supervising the department’s internship program and in coordinating cross-functional legal trainings and process improvements.

LEGAL MATTER, CONTRACT LIFECYCLE & TEAM SUPPORT MANAGEMENT

Take ownership of the legal department’s matter and contract lifecycle workflows, including creating and maintaining matters and templates in the matter management system, and ensuring consistent intake, tracking, and file management practices.

Draft, review, and redline a wide range of commercial agreements (including sponsorship and suite license agreements, NDAs, vendor agreements, and related statements of work), and escalate higher-risk issues and non-standard positions to the General Counsel and/or Deputy General Counsel.

Maintain corporate governance and entity records, including organizing board and committee materials and other corporate documents in accordance with department protocols.

Monitor the status of matters and contracts, set priorities for the department’s administrative tasks, and proactively communicate timelines, bottlenecks, and escalation needs to stakeholders.

Coordinate with the global Red Bull legal team on legal operations initiatives (such as systems administration, matter management, playbooks, and reporting) and help drive adoption of standard processes at the local level.

Serve as a primary legal point of contact for internal teams on contract workflows and routine interpretation questions; provide practical guidance on standard terms and coordinate reviews, approvals, and signature routing.

Analyze and summarize legal, regulatory, and dispute-related documents to support internal decision-making, coordination with outside counsel, and reporting.

Maintain a working knowledge of applicable regulations, league rules, and internal policies affecting RBNY; in partnership with the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel, recommend and draft updates to templates and key provisions to address legal and regulatory changes.

Support litigation, claims, and audit matters, including coordinating document collection and production and working with outside counsel as directed.

Provide day-to-day oversight of the legal department’s internship program, including coordinating recruitment and onboarding, assigning and tracking projects, mentoring interns, and gathering feedback; partner with and receive support and guidance from the Deputy General Counsel on program structure, performance issues, and learning objectives.

Develop and maintain contract and matter management playbooks, metrics, and reports; identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve service levels in coordination with the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel.

Build and maintain productive relationships with internal business teams, external vendors, organizational partners, and the broader Red Bull organization, demonstrating sound judgment, responsiveness, and a solutions-oriented approach.

EVENT MEETING SCHEDULING, PLANNING & COORDINATION

Take ownership of the logistics and execution of legal department trainings (in coordination with the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel), including scheduling, communicating with attendees, preparing materials, and tracking completion as needed.

Manage the General Counsel’s calendar with a focus on strategic prioritization, ensuring that meeting objectives are clear, pre-reading materials are distributed when appropriate, and follow-up items are documented and routed to the appropriate parties.

Drive the department’s operating rhythm by maintaining the legal team calendar and action tracker, coordinating recurring meetings and key cross-functional touchpoints, and partnering with attorneys to prepare agendas, document decisions, and track action items through to completion.

Attend and actively participate in the organization’s cross-functional department meetings as the representative of the legal department.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

Skilled and experienced in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Copilot, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, legal document management systems, and other AI tools (e.g., large language models).

Able to create and edit a wide variety of documents, including letters, emails, presentations, and contracts.

Self-starter with the ability to complete assigned tasks independently, work efficiently with minimal supervision, and manage a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment.

Extremely well organized, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple competing deadlines.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Demonstrates patience, good judgment, unquestioned integrity, and sound discretion.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and external partners.

Red Bull New York (RBNY) is one of 30 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS) and one of the league’s ten original charter clubs. Founded in 1996, RBNY has competed in MLS since the league’s inception. A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school is required.

The candidate should have 1–2 years of relevant legal experience (for example, in-house, at a law firm, or in a comparable contracts or legal operations role) supporting commercial contracting and advising business stakeholders.

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to understand, negotiate, and summarize key contractual concepts and obligations, and to communicate them clearly to non-legal stakeholders.

The candidate should be able to manage multiple matters simultaneously, appropriately prioritize competing business needs, and exercise sound judgment in determining when to escalate issues.

Familiarity with DocuSign and contract or matter management tools is also required.

This position is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or individuals who are currently authorized to work in the United States on a valid visa.
The base salary range for this position is $115,000 - 135,000 + cash incentives. Actual salary offers may vary based on work experience. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified.
