The Associate Attorney – Litigation is responsible for controlled execution of civil litigation matters within established legal, procedural, and financial frameworks. This role carries direct exposure to deadline compliance, billed production, and case progression, and operates within defined governance standards to ensure consistent, defensible legal outcomes and realized revenue generation.

Core Accountabilities

1. Litigation Execution Control 

Accountable for the accurate and timely execution of assigned litigation work within procedural and legal standards. 

This includes accountability for: 

  • Drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery responses  

  • Conducting legal research aligned with case requirements  

  • Preparing case summaries and recommendations  

  • Ensuring all filings meet court requirements and deadlines  

  • Maintaining accuracy and completeness of legal documents  

  • Executing assigned work without procedural deviation  

 

 

2. Deadline & Risk Management 

Accountable for maintaining strict control over case deadlines and procedural requirements to prevent legal exposure. 

This includes accountability for: 

  • Maintaining calendar accuracy for all case deadlines  

  • Tracking court dates, filings, and required responses  

  • Identifying and escalating potential deadline risks  

  • Ensuring compliance with procedural rules  

  • Verifying completion of all required filings  

  • Maintaining audit-ready case timelines  

 

 

3. Billed Production Control 

Accountable for consistent generation and conversion of work into billed output aligned with firm production expectations. 

This includes accountability for: 

  • Maintaining consistent daily production activity  

  • Capturing all time contemporaneously  

  • Converting recorded time into billed work through proper documentation  

  • Ensuring accuracy and completeness of billing descriptions  

  • Managing workload to sustain billed production levels  

  • Monitoring personal production against billed targets  

 

 

4. Discovery & Deposition Execution 

Accountable for progressing cases through structured discovery and fact development. 

This includes accountability for: 

  • Drafting and responding to discovery requests  

  • Preparing for and conducting depositions  

  • Reviewing and organizing evidentiary materials  

  • Maintaining discovery documentation  

  • Ensuring completeness of discovery responses  

  • Coordinating with internal staff on case materials  

 

 

5. Client & Case Communication Control 

Accountable for maintaining accurate and timely communication related to case status. 

This includes accountability for: 

  • Providing case updates within defined timelines  

  • Responding to client inquiries promptly  

  • Documenting communications in case systems  

  • Maintaining professional communication standards  

  • Coordinating updates with partners when required  

  • Ensuring no gaps in communication continuity  

 
 
 
 

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in Texas
  • 3+ years of civil litigation experience
  • Demonstrated experience with:
  • Drafting motions and discovery
  • Depositions (taking and/or defending)
  • Court appearances
