Department: Conservatory of Music Position Type: 75% Faculty - 30 hours per week (Assistant Professor, Teaching Track) Benefits eligible position $66,000 compensation for the year. Position Summary The Biola University Conservatory of Music seeks a dynamic and committed faculty member to serve as Choral Ensemble Director and Voice Faculty. This position will include conducting a choir, teaching applied voice lessons and voice-related courses. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching, artistic leadership, mentorship, and will actively support Biola’s mission to develop artists who integrate musical excellence with Christian faith and character. Primary Responsibilities Direct and rehearse a primary choral ensemble including repertoire selection, performance preparation, and concert programming Assist the Director of Choral studies in the administration of choral festivals, clinics, on and off campus events. Teach applied voice lessons to undergraduate students Teach voice-related courses such as vocal pedagogy,class voice or other voice-related classes(as assigned) Mentor students in artistic development, professional preparation, and spiritual formation Participate in recruitment, auditions, and ensemble placement activities Engage in departmental and university service, including faculty meetings, committees, and Conservatory events Maintain an active professional or artistic profile appropriate to the faculty rank Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Vocal Performance, Choral Conducting, Vocal Pedagogy or Music Education Demonstrated excellence in choral conducting and vocal instruction at the collegiate or professional level Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills Commitment to student-centered teaching and collaborative departmental culture Active Christian faith with the ability to support and affirm Biola University’s theological commitments and mission Preferred Qualifications Doctorate or terminal degree in a related field Experience teaching voice pedagogy and/or class voice Experience working within a conservatory or university music program Professional performance or conducting experience Application Materials Applicants should submit: Cover letter addressing qualifications and interest in the position One page describing Christian testimony and current walk with the Lord Curriculum vitae Teaching philosophy statement Links to conducting and/or performance recordings (if available) Contact information for three professional references About Biola University Biola University is a nationally ranked Christian university located in Southern California.
