Assistant Director, Residential Education
Supervise, train and evaluate 4-6 Community Directors and up to 1-3 Coordinators, directly or indirectly supervise from one to four Graduate Community Directors. Manage day-to-day functions including programming, support and conduct for a residential area of approximately 1,500-2,500 residents. Oversee committees and projects such as Community Director Recruitment, Graduate Community Director Recruitment, hall closings, non-academic year housing, staff training, and Resident Assistant Selection on a rotational basis. Manager on-Duty” rotation acting as a resource to Community Director staff. Manage a $100,000+ budget within residential district. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated ability in organizing and facilitating student personnel programs, staff supervision, and operational responsibilities in residence halls. Knowledge and understanding of diversity and an ability to work with a wide variety of people while recognizing the needs of students with an underrepresented or oppressed identity. Basic knowledge and understanding of assessment and evaluation in student affairs. Knowledge of personnel management, including the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of professional, Graduate, and paraprofessional staff. Skills necessary to respond to internal and external customer needs in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. Ability to make effective decisions both collaboratively and independently. Ability to address student concerns by working with campus partners. Ability to conduct assessment and evaluation of housing services and programs, interpret and report data, compare data to bench marking results and stay current in trends of research in the field.
