Assistant Chemist (Maritime Service)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Determining the confidentiality, integrity, quality, technical, health and safety aspect of the company.
To assist the Lab Manager / Senior Chemist in all aspects of work in the respective section.
To carry out testing on all aspects of work and calibration of equipment in the respective section when necessary.
Assist in or perform reagent preparation and standardization of standard solutions.
Perform result entry, QC checks, inventory maintenance, basic equipment calibration & maintenance.
Maintain of all equipment and testing records in the respective section.
General laboratory work like housekeeping, sample receipt and registration, preparation of sample bottles and helping to maintain cleanliness of laboratory, equipment and apparatus.
To highlight abnormalities and discrepancies in the testing, calibration and results.
Perform the duties of a Quality Officer for the section.
When necessary, updating of test methods and working instructions under supervision.

Job Requirement:

Candidate must possess at least Diploma/Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelor's Degree/Post Graduate Diploma/Professional Degree in Chemistry, Science or equivalent
Interacts with operational personnel, scientific personnel, and department management.
May work with potentially hazardous materials.
Overtime and weekend work as required.
Work requires some standing and sitting for long periods of time, including working within a laboratory hood and standing at a bench top.
Work requires use of PPE (personal protective equipment).
Entry level are welcome.
