Provide mental health counseling consultative services to clients who are medical students and graduate trainees (residents and fellows) at COM-P. Evaluate treatment protocols and procedures to ensure goals and objectives are met using evidence based and best practice guidelines. Execute timely crisis triage/interventions. Develop and maintain relationships with community healthcare providers and client’s PCP/psychiatrist, when indicated, to ensure coordinated care transition and continuity for external referrals. Provide consultation, education and training to students, faculty and staff on topics related to mental health and wellness, including sexual health, suicide prevention, stress management and Mental Health First Aid. Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to create a culture of wellness on campus and provide resources that support the academic success and personal well-being of students, residents and fellows in training. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health and wellness programs and services as a cohesive unit, for students and graduate trainees, using a data driven approach to inform program improvements. Carry responsibility for the creation, maintenance and security of confidential records and protocols. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, FERPA and other applicable regulations. Collaborate with other departments concerned with medical, nutritional, pharmaceutical or counseling and psychological services. Provide strategic oversight and support to individuals and groups in COM-P as part of the Office of Wellbeing. Develop and deliver educational programs to recognize and address/support student/resident wellness needs, including proactively responding to students/residents in distress, while maintaining confidentiality yet ensuring necessary communication with key leaders. Participate in event planning and execution for special programs. Coordinate and work with mental health leaders to decrease stigma and improve access to and awareness of peer support and mental health services. Help students, residents and fellows to feel heard, valued and safe when expressing concerns in their learning environment. Develop and implement strategies for sustaining wellness in anticipation of medical student and resident milestones and stressors (e.g., dedicated time, debriefs). Assess and support health and safety risk management issues for the College; oversee crisis intervention and serves as a member on related team(s); reviews and analyzes incident reports and recommend actions. Ensure compliance and timely documentation for LCME and ACGME accreditation requirements related to student and trainee well-being. Assist in integrating existing local and national resources for the college through development and updating of the well-being pages on the website. Participate on various committees/task forces to ensure student and resident well-being perspectives are articulated when appropriate. Engage in research and other scholarly work. Knowledge, Skills Abilities: Advanced knowledge of health care administration, systems, and policies serving a college-age population. Demonstrate ability to engage and understand of intersectional identities and related unique issues, and collaborate with key stakeholders on campus policy, procedures and quality improvement and implementation of evidence-based programs, practices, and support that work to decrease health disparities. Highly experienced clinician with leadership and team-building skills. Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills. Highly experienced and skilled at planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating activities appropriate to the advancement of program goals. Knowledge of quality assessment and improvement procedures and best practices in health care management, patient care and prevention programs. Proven ability to develop, implement and direct business processes, policies, procedures and strategic and organizational planning activities. Experience in the design, development and direction of interdisciplinary health-related programs and services.
