Alarm Automation Engineer
Make your mark for patients
We are looking for an Alarm Automation Engineer who is proactive, collaborative, and digitally minded to join our Automation team, based at our UCB campus located in Braine-l’Alleud, Belgium.
Note that 3 roles are now open : 1 specialized in PCS7 (system engineer), 1 in Aveva SP (facilities engineer) and 1 for both (alarm engineer).
About the role
You will define, align, and standardize the alarm management strategy for the entire Braine site while acting as the technical expert and system owner for alarm-related automation systems. You will contribute to UCB’s digital-first culture by ensuring robust, compliant, and continuously improving automation systems.

You will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, IT, and automation teams, as well as external partners and integrators. You will operate in a highly collaborative environment where cross-functional teamwork is key to delivering reliable, digital-ready manufacturing systems.
Major projects you could participate in
- PCS7: We have 4 infrastructures in Belgium where PCS7 is used,in which there are numerous projects such as the implementation of new molecule production, new equipment, and production optimizations. We also have upgrade projects to keep installations up to date.
- AVEVA SP: Projects to redefine all our infrastructures to integrate new buildings and installations: site utilities and new research facilities.
What you will do
· You will define and maintain site-wide alarm management strategy and documentation.
· You will be responsible for developing and improving automation procedures, software, and lifecycle documents.
· You will participate in multidisciplinary workshops aligning engineering, manufacturing, and quality stakeholders.
· You will manage the review and approval of integrator deliverables, anticipating risks and cost deviations.
· You will support FAT, SAT, commissioning, validation, and 24/7 hybrid support activities with integrators.
· You will organize and deliver training to operators and experts, ensuring smooth handover to operations.
Evolution in the role
BelTech Automation was officially created in January 2025. It is a team under construction and expansion, with the ambition to align our support models for production and projects in Belgium.
This could lead to growth opportunities in technical, project, and management areas. The team currently consists of 15 internal members and more than 80 external collaborators.
Interested? For this role, we are looking for the following education, experience, and skills
· Master’s degree in automation.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in process automation within a GMP environment (must have).
· Strong knowledge of PCS7 AND AVEVA (must have), cGMP, automation design, commissioning, validation, and alarm management principles.
· Proven ability to work in dynamic operational environments with excellent communication and facilitation skills.
· Strong digital mindset and familiarity with MES, monitoring platforms, data integrity, and cybersecurity.
· Fluency in French and English, with willingness to travel occasionally.
Be part for 24/7 guard support (level 2) in hybrid model with Automation Integrators and ready to travel a limited period of time.
