And our Corporate Real Estate team is on the front lines of procuring, designing and developing spaces at all our hubs, stations and city locations across the world. From airport affairs and business services to planning and development, this team is responsible for all our leases and major construction and renovation projects, system wide.

Job overview and responsibilities

Responsibilities include leading the planning, programming, coordination, and development of airport master plans; managing gate and terminal layouts; managing on-call aviation planning services; recommending short-, medium-, and long-term plans to implement company's strategic objectives; and supporting project managers, internal stakeholders, and external stakeholders in general planning tasks.

• Develops, assists airports with the development of, and manages architectural/engineering/planning firms in the development of airport master plans, United support and operational space master plans, feasibility studies, land/easement acquisition services, aviation planning services, and support for various stakeholders in general planning tasks by performing research, gathering and analyzing data, and conducting field surveys to make strategic recommendations to meet short-, medium-, and long-term company objectives
• Performs terminal planning analysis in conjunction with internal/external stakeholders to include identifying facility requirements, level of service analysis, works with designers in developing conceptual design for terminal systems, studies and recommends systems integration for terminal processor elements including; lobby, security, passenger holdroom, concessions, passenger boarding bridges, aircraft parking layouts, and other related terminal systems
• Manages the development and maintenance of the central repository of systemwide gate plans, facilitates Gate Layout Council (GLSM compliancy) meetings, and analyzes gate layouts for compliancy of United's safety and regulatory standards
• The Airport Planning Manager is a key contributor to and manages/leads station Safety Risk Assessments
• Further, the Airport Planning Manager coordinates directly with Network Planning to review updated schedules for new aircraft/fleet roll outs and gate requirement changes
• Manages technical analysis and provides recommendations for aircraft and gate parking to include aircraft movement areas and gates, remote parking, and hangar layout, and parking through intepretation and analysis of confidential and strategic network planning data
• Serves as the gate layout subject-matter expert for station leadership (SOC, Ramp, CS, Safety, etc.) and works collaboratively to address known challenges
• Prepares written reports and deliverables for complex terminal and gate planning studies, which includes presenting technical information to senior leadership and internal/external stakeholders
• Manages projects, contracts, and invoicing for gate layout and striping efforts (GLSM)
• Manages the development of Ramp Striping Improvement Program (RSIP) budgets and forecasts in coordination with the Senior Manager of Planning

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

 

• Bachelor's degree
• Bachelor's in aviation management, Architecture, or Civil Engineering
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule in office 3 days per week 
• 4+ years direct experience in airline planning, airport planning, airline management and/or operations
• Familiarity with FAA Advisory Circulars and Orders
• ACRP & IATA Standards for Level of Service
• Airport Master Planning
• AutoCAD
• AviPLAN
• Microsoft Office 365 Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
• Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to distill complex technical analyses in a clear, concise manner
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal/external stakeholders
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

• Airline/Airport/Aviation SMS Training
• AAAE Certified Member
• 5+ years experience in aviation airfield and terminal planning
• Knowledge of ICAO airport design standards
• Familiarity with United Airlines Gate Layout Standards Manual (GLSM)
• Knowledge of airline operating procedures
• ARCGIS

The base pay range for this role is $102,220.00 to $133,194.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
