The Air Specialist is a technical role supporting a broad range of air quality and regulatory activities for Chevron’s Texas upstream assets. This position provides subject‑matter expertise in air regulations, emissions quantification, permitting, compliance, and continuous improvement to help maintain Chevron’s license to operate.
The role supports the S&TB Texas Region, a fast‑paced upstream business unit with diverse assets across Texas, and reports to the Texas Air & Environmental Team Lead.
Responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:
Interpreting and applying state and federal air quality regulations
Performing air emissions calculations using generally accepted methods and models
Conducting regulatory applicability determinations
Developing and maintaining air processes, procedures, technical standards, and guidance documents
Coordinating the preparation of air permit applications and regulatory reports
Supporting compliance assurance through inspections and site assessments to verify effective air program safeguards
Developing and delivering training materials to enhance stakeholder competency in regulations, compliance, permitting, and risk recognition
Engaging with internal and external stakeholders including operations, engineering, industry groups, and regulatory agencies
Work Location & Schedule
Position requires some travel to Houston (<25%); business travel will include field time
Eligible for Chevron’s hybrid work model and 9/80 work schedule
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a STEM‑related field.
2–5 years of relevant air quality, environmental, or regulatory experience
Demonstrated ability to lead medium‑scope projects with limited supervision
