We are currently seeking an ambitious pace-setter to join our team as a Principal Industrial Designer remotely in the US.

iFIT is looking for a visionary Principal Industrial Designer who brings world-class design expertise and a forward-thinking approach to product development. In this role, you will lead the ideation and execution of innovative fitness products from concept to launch, leveraging cutting-edge AI tools and digital platforms to push the boundaries of what's possible in industrial design. You will collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Marketing, and UX teams to deliver products that are not only beautifully crafted but deeply meaningful to our customers. ROLE COMMITMENTS

  • Make iFIT an AI-Emergent Creative Organization: Leverage AI to accelerate creative velocity and innovation. Continue integrating AI tools and workflows into concepting, production, and iteration to improve speed and effectiveness.
  • Scale iFIT Creative Output With Efficiency and Quality: Support increased investment with scalable, high-performing creative. Implement prioritization frameworks, templates, and reuse strategies to increase throughput and reduce production friction. Maintain clear quality standards while increasing creative velocity.
  • Define and operationalize the visual DNA: Document the core color, typography, motion, and iconography language and turn the Creative Director’s vision into ready‑to‑use UI kits, libraries, and templates.
  • Scale output with reusable assets and workflow templates in a team library: Build modular components (buttons, cards, micro‑interactions) and standardized layout/copy templates in design tools (Figma) to accelerate production.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • World class level of understanding of form, function, visual composition, and conceptual integrity. Eye for clean, visually impactful designs that are current and fresh.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate design concepts through hand sketches, mock-ups, and models; from 3D prints to full appearance models to early prototypes.
  • A great sensitivity to color, aesthetics, and materiality, and the ability to translate trends into compelling products. Very skilled at CMF.
  • A high level of knowledge in manufacturing methods and ability to use this knowledge as a creative asset rather than limitation. Significant experience in DFM.
  • Highly proficient in CAD (Rhino, Pro-E, SolidWorks) and visualization tools, and expertly use this to gain alignment with engineering and product stakeholders.
  • Highly proficient in a 3D rendering program (Keyshot or similar).
  • Work cross-functionally with Brand and Marketing to continuously develop understanding of the end-to-end iFIT customer journey as well as creating products that not only represent our brand but strengthen it and define it.
  • Design prototypes to rapidly assess the viability of ideas and potential directions or solutions. Work closely with UX to define product experiences and prototype them for discovery and definition purposes.
  • Work through problems, translating insights from research and analytics into concepts, components, products, and solutions that drive the business forward and empower our customers in their own journeys.
  • Work closely with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to align design solutions with business goals and technical feasibility.
  • Create a solid relationship specifically with development teams to ensure the feasibility and accuracy of design implementation. Provide support and guidance during the development process to maintain design integrity. Communicate design concepts effectively, gather feedback, and iterate designs based on insights.
  • Seek out feedback from stakeholders to drive consensus and mine for purpose, working together to derive the optimal outcome, given the constraints and priorities.
  • Work closely with our consumer insights team to conduct thorough user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to understand user behaviors, needs, and pain points. Analyze data and derive insights to inform design decisions.
  • Advocate for the importance of design choices and best practices within the broader team. Communicate the rationale behind visual decisions and help others understand the impact on user experience.
  • Establish and maintain design systems, style guides, and documentation to ensure consistency and scalability across different platforms and devices.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices, CMF, and emerging technologies in industrial design. Apply this knowledge to enhance designs and processes.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education and Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a similar design field.
  • 12+ years of experience working with cross-functional teams to ship products and experiences that users love and derive value from.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have a growth mindset, passion for learning, and willingness to adapt and evolve your own perspective when collaborating with teammates.
  • Tremendous ID and visual design skills with the ability to tell a story.
  • Ability to think in terms of the user life cycle.
  • Ability to take complicated workflows and elegantly streamline them.
  • Appreciation of the product development process and how to effectively integrate industrial design into it.
  • Ability to clearly articulate your concepts and evangelize on their behalf.
  • A willingness to own problems, comfort with ambiguity, a desire to make things better, and a balanced sense of optimism and humility.

Pay Range:
$80,000$120,000 USD
