About the Affiliated and Federated Institutions:

The Affiliated and Federated Institutions of Waterloo (AFIW) consist of Conrad Grebel University College, Renison University College, St. Jerome's University, and United College. Located to the west of the main Waterloo campus, these colleges provide a close-knit environment with access to the extensive resources of a major research university. Each of the AFIW institutions offers a distinctive educational experience while being part of the larger University of Waterloo community.

Cross-Institutional Collaboration

These institutions are academically integrated with the University of Waterloo, allowing students to take Waterloo courses and programs while enjoying the unique community atmosphere of each affiliated institutions.  The AFIW institutions have cross-institutional faculty appointments and employees, fostering a collaborative academic environment. This integration allows for a rich exchange of ideas and resources, enhancing the educational experience for both students and faculty.
