Job Description Summary

We are seeking an experienced and driven Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to support manufacturing operations within Bucharest generator parts manufacturing unit. This role is responsible for organizing and leading projects related to new premises, factory buildings, rehabilitation, new equipment, lay-out, renovations and optimization, developing, improving, and sustaining robust manufacturing processes for critical generator components, with a strong focus on safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost.
The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will work cross-functionally with operations, quality, sourcing, design/repair engineering, maintenance, and EHS to drive process capability, implement advanced manufacturing methods, support new product and process introduction, and lead continuous improvement initiatives across machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, insulation, and other generator component production processes as applicable.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong technical knowledge, problem-solving ability, and the capability to support both daily production needs and long-term manufacturing strategy.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and lead projects related to new premises, factory buildings, rehabilitation, new equipment, lay-out, renovations and optimization

  • Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for large generator components and subassemblies

  • Provide day-to-day engineering support to production operations to resolve process issues, improve throughput, and reduce variation

  • Lead process development and industrialization efforts for new products, product changes, and transferred work

  • Evaluate current manufacturing methods and identify opportunities to improve safety, ergonomics, quality, cycle time, and cost

  • Design and support tooling, fixtures, jigs, work holding, process flow, and plant layout improvements

  • Drive productivity improvements through Lean manufacturing, waste reduction, standard work, line balancing, and capacity optimization

  • Partner with design/repair engineering teams to improve manufacturability, serviceability, and cost

  • Develop and maintain process documentation including routings, work instructions, control plans, PFMEA, process maps, and standard operating procedures

  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for manufacturing nonconformances, yield losses, process instability, and equipment-related issues

  • Support capital equipment projects including specification development, equipment selection, installation, commissioning, validation, and operator handoff

  • Analyze manufacturing data to monitor process performance, identify trends, and drive measurable improvements in scrap, rework, downtime, and cycle time

  • Support quality initiatives by improving process control, mistake-proofing, inspection methods, and process capability

  • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to improve equipment reliability, uptime, and preventive maintenance effectiveness

  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with all applicable safety, environmental, and quality requirements

  • Participate in shop floor trials, process qualifications, and production readiness reviews

  • Train operators, technicians, and support teams on new processes, tooling, and standard work as needed

  • Support supplier and internal process capability reviews related to raw materials, machined parts, fabricated components, and assemblies

  • Lead or support continuous improvement projects aligned to plant performance goals

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline

  • Major experience of manufacturing engineering experience in an industrial production environment

  • Experience supporting complex manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, coating, insulation, or heavy industrial component production

  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement, root cause analysis, and production support

  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing, process control, and continuous improvement methods

  • Experience developing manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and standard work

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in common engineering and business software tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in generator equipment, heavy electrical equipment, or other large industrial component manufacturing

  • Knowledge of machining large components, weldments, stator/rotor component manufacturing, insulation systems, vacuum pressure impregnation, balancing, or precision assembly processes

  • Familiarity with PFMEA, Control Plans, DOE, SPC, CAPA, and process validation methods

  • Experience with CNC machining, automated manufacturing systems, robotics, or advanced inspection methods

  • Lean Six Sigma certification or demonstrated application of Lean/Six Sigma tools

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing execution systems

  • Knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, tolerancing, and industrial quality standards

  • Project management experience related to capital equipment, facility upgrades, or process transfers
