Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Accounting Manager to lead a team of 12 accountants and manage a high-level portfolio of clients. This role is designed for a technical expert in Cyprus Tax and VAT systems who can navigate complex European accounting standards. The position is 100% remote, offering a modern work-life balance while managing a robust departmental structure.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Cyprus Compliance & VAT: Act as the lead authority on Cyprus VAT, VIES, and Social Insurance. Ensure all client filings are accurate and submitted within statutory deadlines.

  • Team Leadership: Supervise a team of 12 accountants. Provide training on efficiency in Xero and QuickBooks, and lead the potential transition to Balabook where applicable.

  • Software Strategy: Oversee the migration of selected clients to Balabook.com while maintaining high-level support for clients remaining on QuickBooks/Xero.

  • Portfolio Oversight: Review management accounts, financial statements, and annual audit files for a diverse range of sectors, including the Insurance industry.

  • Strategic Advisory: Communicate directly with clients to explain complex Cyprus tax implications and provide professional guidance on business decisions.

  • Operational Training: Teach staff best practices in Excel and accounting software to optimize workflow and reduce manual errors.

Requirements

  • Technical Expertise: Deep, practical knowledge of the Cyprus Tax & VAT system and Social Insurance regulations.

  • Experience: * Minimum 5 years of professional accounting experience.

    • Proven experience managing a team (experience with 10+ subordinates preferred).

    • Direct experience with European (EU) accounting standards.

    • Experience in the Insurance sector is a significant advantage.

  • Software: Proficiency in QuickBooks and Xero. Openness to becoming an expert and trainer in Balabook.

  • Languages: Professional fluency in English is required.

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Salary: Highly competitive monthly salary based on experience (Disclosed at the interview stage).

  • 13th Salary: A full month’s salary bonus paid in December (Prorated based on start date).

  • Work Arrangement: 100% Remote.

  • Equipment: Company-provided hardware (Laptop, screen, keyboard, and mouse).

  • Working Hours: 08:00 – 16:00.
