The opportunity
TC Energy is growing to meet the needs of our business and looking to add a new member to their Corporate Accounting team. Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, the focus of this role is accounts receivable (AR) and processing journal entries for internal and external customers.
What you’ll do
- Perform daily and month-end AR clearing, including cash application and resolution of open AR clearing items
- Investigate and resolve unmatched or aged AR clearing balances, working with internal stakeholders and downstream systems as required
- Reconcile AR clearing accounts and ensure balances are appropriately cleared and supported at month-end
- Prepare and post journal entries related to AR clearing, cash receipts, reclassifications, and corrections
- Monthly preparation and distribution of the foreign exchange rates summary
- Supporting the Corporate accounting team completing special projects and ad hoc analysis as required
- Act as a backup for Controller’s Executive Assistant during year-end and quarter-end as needed
Minimum qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with counterparts in the Company
- Successful completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with two years of progressive, related experience
Preferred qualifications
- Keen attention to detail and drive for continuous improvement
- Proven team player, successful in developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, with ability to optimize Excel models
- Experience working with SAP, BPC, Workiva, SharePoint, Teams, Power BI considered an asset
- Progressing towards obtaining a Professional accounting designation (CPA) is considered an asset
