Team & Context:
You’ll be part of the Datalayer team, a team of 8 people mainly based in Paris.
Our team is part of the Platform Technologies group which aims to address the technical and technological challenges of the MX.3 platform.
One of its goals is to provide the financial developers with robust and highly efficient SDKs to abstract the supported relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, …) in both Java and C++.
The Java one heavily relies on the Hibernate third party which is a well-known JPA implementation.
Our problem is that the Hibernate upgrades have become increasingly more complex and costly, to a point where we’re now considering moving away from it…
This is a strategic objective for the company.
Missions:
As a Java Developer your mission will be to:
Assess the current usage of Hibernate in the MX.3 platform
Study other third parties that could replace Hibernate and do a Proof of Concept (POC) with the most promising one
Assess the cost of implementing the JPA specification internally as a replacement for Hibernate
Design and document a migration plan
Profile:
« Mandatory » skills:
Student (Bac+5, preferably from an engineering school) looking for a final internship of 6 months
Solid knowledge of Java, RDBMS and SQL
Autonomy, ability to work independently
Strong problem-solving mindset
Excellent written and oral communication in French and/or English
Team spirit and collaboration
« Nice to have » skills:
Knowledge of JPA, ORM and Hibernate
Knowledge of version control tools (Git) and continuous integration tools (Jenkins)
