2026-2027 Preschool Teaching Assistant
Our Lady of Grace Catholic School is seeking a warm, dependable, and faith-filled Preschool Teaching Assistant to join our early childhood team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children and understands the importance of creating a safe, nurturing, and joyful classroom environment. The Preschool Teaching Assistant supports the lead teacher in helping children grow socially, emotionally, spiritually, and academically through daily routines, play-based learning, and positive guidance. Successful candidates are patient, flexible, energetic, and able to work collaboratively while meeting the many needs of a busy preschool classroom.
Responsibilities Include:
- Support the lead teacher in carrying out daily classroom activities and routines
- Assist with centers, play-based learning, and teacher-led instruction
- Provide one-on-one and small group support for students as needed
- Help children with transitions throughout the day, including arrival, cleanup, bathroom breaks, snack, lunch, rest time, and dismissal
- Use positive redirection and encouragement to support age-appropriate behavior
- Prepare classroom materials and help maintain an organized learning environment
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play
- Foster a calm, caring, and engaging atmosphere where children feel safe and valued
- Assist with classroom cleanup and end-of-day responsibilities
- Work closely with the teacher and preschool team to support the needs of all students
