2026-2027 Lead Middle School Social Studies Teacher
KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks middle school teachers for our 5th through 8th grade classrooms in the 2026-2027 school year. Teachers are assigned one grade level and are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their school leader.
OUR CURRENT MODEL
There are four “home room” teachers on each grade level who are each responsible for teaching a single core subject. (For example, there are four teachers on the 6th grade team; each staff member teaches every student on that grade level for their assigned subject.) Class size is typically about 25 students per class.
Subjects on each grade level include English Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and Science. This posting is specifically for those candidates interested in teaching social studies. Our current compensation and benefits structure is very competitive and is commensurate with experience.
Our current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000

*The salary offered in the DocuSign doesn’t include any stipends for which the candidate may be eligible. In our current year of paying out millage stipends, certified New-to-KIPP instructional staff received a historical average of $11,000 with the addition of receiving TSIA stipends. There are other opportunities to earn money at KIPP Jax in the form of additional stipends. This role will only be eligible for instructional stipends if they have their FLDOE certification.

Bachelor's Degree
Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification in one of the following areas:
Elementary Education K-6 for positions in grades 5th or 6th OR
Social Studies 5-9 OR
Social Science 6-12
At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Florida Reading Endorsement (or reading competency coursework in progress) if teaching English Language Arts
ESOL Endorsement (or competency coursework in progress)
Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom in a relevant grade level
