Key Takeaways

  • Dürr AG is a Bietigheim-Bissingen-headquartered German mechanical engineering group with roughly 17,000 employees, ~€4.2 billion in fiscal 2025 segment sales, and a Frankfurt SDAX listing under DUE. CEO is Dr. Jochen Weyrauch (since 2022); CFO is Dietmar Heinrich (since 2020).
  • The careers portal is Oracle HCM Cloud at https://jobs.durr-group.com (site CX_2) — verified live with 83 active requisitions, all in Germany. Some subsidiaries also use Haufe Umantis (recruitingapp-5387/-5432/-5433.de.umantis.com); always check both the central Group board and the relevant division careers site (durr.com, homag.com, schenck-rotec.com).
  • German is the working language for nearly every posting at a German location — apply with a German Lebenslauf and Anschreiben, not a translated English resume. CEFR B2 minimum, C1 expected for management or customer-facing roles.
  • The application package is a single PDF Bewerbungsmappe combining cover letter, two-page tabular CV with photo, and Zeugnisse — uploaded to the Oracle HCM portal, not emailed.
  • The interview process runs three rounds — HR screen, technical interview with the hiring manager, on-site final round with factory tour — and takes four to eight weeks for engineering roles. Expect formal Sie/Herr/Frau register throughout.
  • Three structured entry routes for early-career candidates run in parallel to direct hire: Ausbildung (vocational apprenticeship), Duales Studium (typically with DHBW Stuttgart/Mosbach/Heidenheim), and Werkstudent (part-time student worker).
  • Strategic context to know going in: the Automotive segment is navigating BEV-transition capex pressure on traditional paint-shop demand, while Clean Technology Systems (battery-electrode coating lines) is the growth engine. HOMAG (woodworking) is periodically discussed in capital-markets coverage as a potential structural separation candidate but no spin-off has been announced.
  • What Dürr hires for: deep technical specialism, hands-on engineering experience, reliability/continuity, formal qualifications, travel willingness for project and service roles, and Mittelstand cultural fit (calibrated communication, long-term thinking).

About Dürr AG

Dürr AG is a German mechanical and plant engineering group headquartered at Carl-Benz-Straße 34 in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Baden-Württemberg, roughly twenty kilometers north of Stuttgart in the heart of Germany's industrial Mittelstand belt. Founded in 1895 by Paul Dürr as a tinsmith's workshop, the company grew over more than a century into one of the world's most quietly indispensable industrial suppliers: Dürr paint shops finish a very large share of the cars produced globally, and HOMAG woodworking machines cut and surface a comparable share of the world's furniture and wood-construction panels. The Dürr Group operates 124 business locations in 32 countries and reported fiscal 2025 segment sales of approximately €4.2 billion across its three reporting divisions (Automotive €2,054 million, Industrial Automation €768 million, Woodworking €1,372 million) with a combined workforce of roughly 17,000 employees concentrated in the Automotive (6,515), Industrial Automation (4,044), and Woodworking (6,471) segments. The company is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange under the ticker DUE and is a constituent of the SDAX. The two-person Board of Management is led by CEO Dr. Jochen Weyrauch (in role since January 2022, contract through end of 2026) and CFO Dietmar Heinrich (since 2020). Dürr is structured around five operating divisions reported within those three segments: Paint and Final Assembly Systems (the flagship Dürr Systems business — the global standard for automotive paint shops), Application Technology (paint robots, atomizers, dosing technology and color-change systems), Clean Technology Systems (industrial air-pollution control and the fast-growing battery-electrode coating-line business), Industrial Automation Systems (centered on Schenck balancing and diagnostics technology and the BBS Automation acquisition), and Woodworking Machinery and Systems (HOMAG Group — the world leader in woodworking machinery, headquartered in Schopfloch). Dürr's strategic identity is German engineering Mittelstand of the very specific kind: family-rooted (the Dürr family remains a long-term shareholder), conservatively financed, dominant in narrow but deep technical niches, and built around long customer relationships with the world's automotive OEMs (Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, Toyota, Tesla, BYD, NIO and dozens of others) and tier-one furniture manufacturers (IKEA suppliers, Nobilia, kitchen and case-goods producers worldwide). Important honest framing: this is mechanical engineering at industrial scale — large capital projects with long sales cycles and cyclicality. The automotive segment is currently navigating the global slowdown in conventional combustion-engine paint-shop capex as OEMs digest the BEV transition; offsetting that, the Clean Technology Systems business is expanding rapidly because Dürr supplies coating lines for lithium-ion battery electrode production (a direct beneficiary of every gigafactory built in Europe and North America). HOMAG, the woodworking division, is periodically discussed in capital-markets coverage as a potential structural separation or partial divestment candidate, though the company has not formally announced a spin-off — candidates should be aware of the strategic conversation but should not assume any change in the legal entity that hires them. For job seekers this is a place where stable, technically deep careers are built — not a hypergrowth tech company but an Erfinder-und-Ingenieur house where a controls engineer, a chemical-process specialist, or a service technician can spend a meaningful career working on machines that physically build other machines.

Application Process

Start at the corporate careers portal at https://www.durr-group.com/en/career, then click through to the job board, which redirects to https://jobs.durr-group.com/ (Oracle HCM Cloud, site CX_2). The board surfaces requisitions across the Dürr AG legal entity and several subsidiaries; some HOMAG, Schenck, and acquired-company entities also publish on three Haufe Umantis tenants (recruitingapp-5387, -5432, -5433 on de.umantis.com). Always check both the central Dürr-Group board and the subsidiary career sites at durr.com, homag.com, schenck-rotec.com, and bbsautomation.com because not every requisition is cross-posted.

  2. 2
Filter by location, division, and career level

Filter by location, division, and career level. The vast majority of currently open Dürr AG requisitions sit in Germany — Bietigheim-Bissingen (corporate functions, Paint and Final Assembly Systems), Schopfloch (HOMAG headquarters), Darmstadt (Schenck), Püttlingen (Saarland operations), Holzbronn/Calw, Gengenbach, St. Johann, Montabaur, and several Saxony locations. International postings appear under the Dürr Systems entities in the United States (Southfield, Michigan and Plymouth, Michigan), Mexico (Querétaro), China (Shanghai, Suzhou), India (Pune, Chennai), Brazil (São Paulo), Czech Republic, Poland, and the United Kingdom — but these usually live on the local subsidiary site rather than the global board.

  3. 3
    Read the job title carefully

Read the job title carefully. German postings end with the gender notation (m/w/d) — short for männlich/weiblich/divers (male/female/diverse) — which is a legal requirement under Germany's General Equal Treatment Act (AGG) and signals nothing about preference. The body of the posting will be in German for any role at a German location; English-only postings are typically reserved for international assignments or specific English-language project teams.

  4. 4
Create a candidate account on the Oracle HCM portal

Create a candidate account on the Oracle HCM portal. Have a single PDF resume ready (one combined file is strongly preferred over separate uploads in the German market — see Resume Tips). Cover letters are expected for nearly every German posting. Certificates and references — Arbeitszeugnisse, Praktikumszeugnisse, Schul- und Hochschulzeugnisse — should be combined into a single supporting PDF.

  5. 5
Submit the application through the portal

Submit the application through the portal. Email applications are not the preferred channel for Dürr — the Oracle HCM workflow is the canonical route and is where status updates are tracked. Expect an automated acknowledgment within 24 hours.

  6. 6

First-round screening is typically handled by a corporate recruiter from the Dürr Group HR organization, often based in Bietigheim-Bissingen for headquarters roles or by the divisional HR business partner for HOMAG, Schenck, or Application Technology positions. The screening call lasts 20-30 minutes and is conducted in German for German postings (assume German unless the recruiter explicitly opens in English).

  7. 7
Technical interview with the hiring manager and one or two senior team members

Technical interview with the hiring manager and one or two senior team members. For engineering roles this is substantive: expect to walk through specific projects, discuss CAD systems you have used (Siemens NX, Catia, SolidWorks), describe PLC programming experience (Siemens, Beckhoff, B&R, CodeSys are common), and explain process-control concepts. For service-technician roles expect questions about hands-on troubleshooting, electrical schematics, and willingness to travel — service technicians at Dürr often spend 50-80% of their time at customer sites worldwide.

  8. 8
    On-site visit and factory tour

On-site visit and factory tour. For roles at Bietigheim-Bissingen, Schopfloch, or Darmstadt this is essentially mandatory before an offer. The visit usually combines a final-round interview panel (hiring manager, one peer, an HR representative) with a tour of the relevant production area or test facility so you can see the machinery you would be working on. This is also where cultural fit is genuinely assessed — Dürr is conservative and Schwäbisch in its working style, and the in-person visit lets both sides confirm fit.

  9. 9
Offer (Vertragsangebot) issued in writing under German employment law

Offer (Vertragsangebot) issued in writing under German employment law. Standard German features apply: 30 days of paid vacation, 13th-month payment in many roles, defined pension contribution, and either an unbefristeter (permanent) or befristeter (fixed-term) contract — fixed-term is common for first hires and university graduates and converts to permanent based on performance. Probationary period (Probezeit) is six months by default. Notice periods scale with tenure under the Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch (BGB §622).

  10. 10
For students and early-career candidates, three structured entry routes operate

For students and early-career candidates, three structured entry routes operate in parallel to the standard direct-hire process. Ausbildung is the formal three-to-three-and-a-half-year vocational apprenticeship system: Dürr trains apprentices each year in Mechatroniker, Industriemechaniker, Elektroniker für Automatisierungstechnik, Industriekaufmann/-frau, Fachinformatiker and several other recognized professions (Ausbildungsberufe), with classroom days at the local Berufsschule and practical days at the Dürr or HOMAG site. Duales Studium combines a bachelor's degree from the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg (DHBW) — typically the Stuttgart, Mosbach, or Heidenheim campuses for Dürr roles — with paid practice phases at the company; popular tracks include Maschinenbau, Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen, Informatik, and Elektrotechnik. Werkstudent positions are part-time student-worker roles (typically 15-20 hours per week during the semester, up to full-time during semester breaks) for university students enrolled in a relevant degree program. All three routes are advertised on the same career portal and use the same application system.

If you are applying for a role at a German location, prepare a German-language Lebenslauf rather than translating your English resume. The format expectations are different and an obviously translated CV reads as a signal that your German is not at working level. Hire a native-speaker reviewer if your German is strong but not perfect — small phrasing errors on a CV are noticed and weighed against you.

Use the standard German tabular Lebenslauf format: contact block at the top (full name, address, phone, email, optionally LinkedIn or Xing), then reverse-chronological sections for Berufserfahrung (work experience), Ausbildung (education — note that this section heading does not mean apprenticeship in the CV context, it covers all formal education), Weiterbildung (continuing education), Sprachkenntnisse (language skills, with proficiency levels per the CEFR scale: A1-C2 or muttersprachlich), and IT-Kenntnisse / EDV-Kenntnisse (technical skills with proficiency notation). Hobbies (Interessen) are still acceptable on German CVs and can humanize you.

Include a professional photograph in the top-right of page one for German applications. This is still the dominant convention in German industrial Mittelstand companies, despite legal complexity around AGG. Photos should be a professional headshot, neutral background, business attire — not a casual snapshot.

Combine everything into a single Bewerbungsmappe PDF: Anschreiben (cover letter, one page), Lebenslauf (CV, two pages), Zeugnisse (certificates — all relevant Arbeitszeugnisse from past employers, Hochschulzeugnis with Notenspiegel, Schulzeugnis, any technical certifications). Order matters: Anschreiben first, then Lebenslauf, then certificates in reverse-chronological order. The Oracle HCM portal accepts a single PDF in the resume slot — use it.

recommended

The Anschreiben (cover letter) is not optional and not a formality

The Anschreiben (cover letter) is not optional and not a formality. German recruiters read it carefully and use it to assess written communication, motivation, and whether you actually understand what the role entails. Address it to the named contact person if one is given in the posting (Sehr geehrte Frau X / Sehr geehrter Herr Y); only use Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren if no contact is named. Open with which position and which Stellen-ID you are applying for, then explain why this specific role at Dürr (not a generic motivation), then connect two or three concrete experiences from your CV to the role's requirements, then close with availability and salary expectation if requested (Gehaltsvorstellung).

Salary expectations: when asked for a Gehaltsvorstellung, give an annual gross figure (Bruttojahresgehalt) — not monthly, not net. The German market expects a specific number, not a range. Research the band on Kununu, Glassdoor, or the IG Metall Tariftabelle for Baden-Württemberg metal-and-electrical industry (Dürr roles in Bietigheim-Bissingen are largely covered by the IG Metall Baden-Württemberg Tarifvertrag, which is publicly published and gives you the actual pay grades by Entgeltgruppe).

Keyword optimization for the Oracle HCM ATS: mirror the exact German technical vocabulary from the job posting. If the posting says SPS-Programmierung, write SPS-Programmierung in your CV — not 'PLC programming.' If it says Inbetriebnahme, use that word — not 'commissioning.' Oracle HCM applies keyword matching against the candidate file, and the German technical lexicon does not always map cleanly to English equivalents.

For technical roles, specifically list: CAD systems (Siemens NX, Catia V5/V6, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, Inventor), simulation tools (Ansys, Abaqus, MATLAB/Simulink), PLC platforms (Siemens TIA Portal/Step 7, B&R Automation Studio, Beckhoff TwinCAT, CodeSys, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell), robotics platforms (KUKA, ABB, Fanuc — particularly relevant since Dürr produces its own painting robots and integrates third-party robots in assembly cells), bus systems (Profinet, EtherCAT, CANopen, Profibus), and any process-engineering background relevant to coating, drying, electrostatics, or environmental technology.

Quantify outcomes the German way: precise, conservative, verifiable. Rather than 'led major project,' write 'verantwortlich für Inbetriebnahme einer Lackieranlage mit X Robotern beim Kunden Y, Reduzierung der Taktzeit um Z%.' Numbers backed by named projects read as credible; American-style superlatives ('transformational,' 'best-in-class') read as suspicious to German hiring managers.

recommended

Language proficiency: state German level honestly using CEFR codes

Language proficiency: state German level honestly using CEFR codes. Roles at German locations require working German (B2 minimum for office/engineering roles, often C1 for management; Muttersprache or muttersprachlich for customer-facing service roles). English is required at C1 level for almost any role above operator/technician because Dürr is a global business. Additional languages are valuable: Mandarin for the China business, Spanish or Portuguese for Mexico/Brazil, French for the European automotive customer base, Polish or Czech for the Eastern European factory belt.

Interview Culture

Dürr interviews are German-formal, technically substantive, and conservatively paced — closer to interviewing at Bosch, Voith, Trumpf, or any other Baden-Württemberg engineering Mittelstand company than to interviewing at a Berlin software startup. Expect German as the default language for any role at a German location unless the recruiter or hiring manager explicitly opens in English; even when the meeting is conducted in English, written follow-up may revert to German. Address everyone with Sie (formal you) and the appropriate title — Herr Dr. Weyrauch, Frau Heinrich — until explicitly invited to switch to du, which in a hiring context is rare before an offer is signed. The first interview is almost always with HR (the Personalreferent or Recruiting Specialist) and lasts 20-30 minutes — questions cover motivation, how you understood the role from the posting, salary expectation, notice period at your current employer, and language skills. The second round is the technical interview with the hiring manager and one or two senior team members; for engineering roles this routinely runs 60-90 minutes and is genuinely technical (specific projects you have worked on, architectures and tools you know firsthand, behavior of specific components and protocols). Be prepared for blunt direct questions about gaps in your CV, why you left a previous employer, or whether your salary expectation is realistic — German interviewers will ask plainly and expect plain answers. The third round is typically on-site at the relevant Dürr or HOMAG location, combining a final panel with a tour of the production hall, test facility, or applications lab. The factory tour is not just hospitality — it is part of the assessment, because hiring managers want to see whether you respond with genuine interest to physical machinery (this is, after all, a mechanical-engineering company) and whether you fit into a working environment that runs on calm competence rather than pitch decks. References (Referenzen) are typically not collected before an offer, but Arbeitszeugnisse (work certificates issued under German law by every previous German employer, with their distinctive coded language) are read carefully — if you have German Arbeitszeugnisse, the wording matters, and recruiters know how to decode 'stets zu unserer vollsten Zufriedenheit' (top grade) versus 'zu unserer Zufriedenheit' (low grade). For international candidates without German Zeugnisse, normal letters of recommendation or LinkedIn endorsements are acceptable substitutes. Total elapsed time from application to offer is typically four to eight weeks for engineering roles, longer for senior management positions. Expect to negotiate the offer in writing rather than over the phone — German employment offers are formal documents and counter-proposals are made in writing through the recruiter.

What Dürr AG Looks For

  • Deep technical specialism over breadth. Dürr's competitive advantage is engineering depth in narrow domains: paint application, electrostatics, atomization, surface treatment, drying, exhaust-air purification, balancing technology, woodworking machinery, battery-electrode coating. The candidates who get hired demonstrate that they have worked on something specific and know it cold — not that they have touched many things superficially.
  • Hands-on engineering experience — at universities (Diplomarbeit or Masterarbeit projects done in industry), through Praktika, through Werkstudent roles, or through prior employment. Dürr is not the company that hires generalists out of consulting and trains them up; it hires engineers who have already been close to physical machines.
  • Working German (CEFR B2 or above) for any role at a German location, with C1 expected for any role involving customer interaction, contract negotiation, or team leadership. English at C1 is also expected because Dürr is a global business and project teams routinely span Germany, China, the United States, and Mexico.
  • Reliability and continuity in the CV. German employers — and Dürr in particular — read CVs for stability: long tenures at previous employers are a positive signal, frequent moves require explanation. Acceptable explanations exist (acquisitions, completed fixed-term contracts, geographic moves for family) but the burden is on you to address the question.
  • Formal qualifications that match the role. For engineering positions, an Ingenieurabschluss (Diplom-Ingenieur, Bachelor of Engineering, or Master of Engineering) from a recognized university or Fachhochschule is expected. For service technicians, a completed Ausbildung as Mechatroniker, Industriemechaniker, or Elektroniker plus relevant Weiterbildung is the standard profile. For commercial roles, an Industriekaufmann/-frau Ausbildung or a Wirtschaftsingenieur or BWL degree is the norm.
  • Willingness to travel for service and project roles — Dürr installs paint shops and woodworking lines worldwide, and field service engineers, commissioning engineers, and project managers spend substantial time at customer sites in China, the United States, Mexico, India, and Eastern Europe. Postings often state the expected travel intensity (Reisebereitschaft) explicitly; if the posting says 50% Reisebereitschaft, treat that as a hard requirement rather than a preference.
  • Comfort with the Mittelstand culture: long-term thinking, conservative communication, calibrated technical claims, and respect for hierarchy. Self-promotion that reads well in a Silicon Valley interview reads as overstated in a Schwäbisch interview — calibrate accordingly.
  • For battery-related roles in the Clean Technology Systems division, demonstrable experience with coating, drying, slot-die technology, electrode chemistry, or lithium-ion cell manufacturing is increasingly valued — this is the part of the business growing fastest and Dürr is hiring against its competitors for this exact talent.
  • For HOMAG roles in Schopfloch, familiarity with woodworking machinery, CNC programming, edge-banding technology, or wood-construction prefabrication is the relevant background. This is a genuinely separate hiring lane from the automotive paint-shop business — same parent company, very different domain expertise.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ATS does Dürr AG use?
Dürr's central careers portal runs on Oracle HCM Cloud (Oracle Recruiting Cloud), hosted at https://jobs.durr-group.com on tenant fa-eurk-saasfaprod1.fa.ocs.oraclecloud.com under site code CX_2. Some subsidiaries (HOMAG, Schenck, and other Dürr Group entities) also publish openings on three Haufe Umantis tenants (recruitingapp-5387, -5432, and -5433 on de.umantis.com), which are linked from the durr-group.com careers landing page. For the great majority of applicants the Oracle HCM portal is the right entry point.
Do I need to speak German to work at Dürr?
For roles at a German location: yes, working German (CEFR B2 or above) is effectively required. The job postings are in German, the interviews default to German, and day-to-day collaboration in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Schopfloch, Darmstadt, and the other German sites runs in German. Roles at the international subsidiaries (Dürr Systems Inc. in Michigan, Dürr Mexicana in Querétaro, Dürr China in Shanghai, Dürr India in Pune) operate in the local language and English; for those positions German is helpful but not mandatory.
What does (m/w/d) mean in Dürr job titles?
It is the German legal gender notation — männlich (male), weiblich (female), divers (diverse) — required by the Allgemeines Gleichbehandlungsgesetz (AGG, Germany's General Equal Treatment Act) to indicate that the position is open to all genders. It is a legal formality and signals nothing about preference; you should not modify your application based on it.
How do I apply as a student or recent graduate?
Three structured routes operate in parallel. Ausbildung is the three-to-three-and-a-half-year vocational apprenticeship for school-leavers (typical professions: Mechatroniker, Industriemechaniker, Elektroniker für Automatisierungstechnik, Industriekaufmann/-frau, Fachinformatiker). Duales Studium combines a bachelor's degree from the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg (DHBW Stuttgart, Mosbach, or Heidenheim are the typical campuses) with paid practice phases at Dürr — popular tracks include Maschinenbau, Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen, Elektrotechnik, and Informatik. Werkstudent positions are part-time roles for currently enrolled university students. All three are advertised on the same careers portal and use the same Oracle HCM application workflow as direct-hire roles.
Is the cover letter (Anschreiben) really required?
Yes, for German postings the Anschreiben is part of the standard Bewerbungsmappe and recruiters read it carefully. It should be one page, address a named contact person if the posting gives one, reference the specific Stellen-ID, explain why this role at Dürr (not a generic motivation), and tie two or three concrete experiences from your CV to the role's requirements. Skipping it or sending a generic letter is a meaningful negative signal in the German hiring market.
What is the salary range I should expect?
Roles at the German Dürr locations are largely covered by the IG Metall Baden-Württemberg metal-and-electrical industry collective agreement, which publishes pay grades by Entgeltgruppe. Engineering positions typically fall in EG 11-14 depending on responsibility and tenure; senior management roles run higher and outside the Tarif. For specific bands consult the published Tariftabelle Metall- und Elektroindustrie Baden-Württemberg, Kununu salary entries for Dürr AG, and Glassdoor. When asked for a Gehaltsvorstellung, give a specific annual gross figure (Bruttojahresgehalt) — German recruiters expect a number, not a range.
How long does the hiring process take?
Four to eight weeks from application to offer is typical for engineering roles, longer for senior management positions. The cycle is: automated acknowledgment within 24 hours, HR screen within two to three weeks, technical interview within another two weeks, on-site final round and factory tour, then offer. Compressed timelines are unusual — Dürr hires deliberately and references the candidate against the long-term fit of the role.
Will I have to relocate to Bietigheim-Bissingen?
It depends on the role. Headquarters functions (corporate finance, IT, central HR, executive management, Paint and Final Assembly Systems engineering) are concentrated in Bietigheim-Bissingen and require either local residence or a credible commute — relocation support is offered for senior roles. HOMAG roles are concentrated in Schopfloch (about 80 km southwest of Stuttgart), Schenck roles in Darmstadt (about 50 km south of Frankfurt), and divisional engineering roles are spread across the German manufacturing belt. Field service engineers and commissioning engineers can be home-based but spend most of their time at customer sites globally. Hybrid work is available for office roles but Dürr is not a remote-first company.
Is the HOMAG spin-off something I should worry about?
Capital-markets coverage has periodically discussed whether HOMAG (the Woodworking division, a separately listed entity in which Dürr holds a controlling stake) might be structurally separated from the Dürr Group. As of publication no spin-off has been formally announced, and HOMAG continues to hire through its own dedicated career site at homag.com and through some shared Group infrastructure. Candidates accepting an offer at HOMAG are joining HOMAG Group entities directly and should not assume any change in the legal employer relationship; if you are applying for a role where the strategic question matters, raise it openly during the on-site interview — Dürr management is comfortable discussing publicly disclosed strategic context.
What is the dress code for interviews?
Business formal for the HR screen and technical interview — suit and tie for men, equivalent business attire for women. Dress one notch more conservatively than you might at a tech-startup interview. For the on-site visit and factory tour, the same business attire is expected on arrival; the host will provide safety equipment (PPE, safety shoes, ear protection, sometimes safety glasses) for the production-floor portion.
How is Dürr different from working at Bosch, Trumpf, or other Baden-Württemberg engineering companies?
Stylistically all of them share the Schwäbisch Mittelstand register — engineering depth, calibrated communication, conservative finance, long-term thinking. Dürr is more focused than Bosch (which is sprawling across consumer goods, mobility, industry, and energy) and more global-customer-facing than Trumpf (which has a similar scale but a different product mix in laser and machine tools). Inside Dürr the divisions feel quite different from each other — HOMAG in Schopfloch has its own identity rooted in woodworking, the Bietigheim-Bissingen paint-shop business has the OEM-customer rhythm of automotive supply, and Schenck in Darmstadt has the industrial-instrumentation feel of measurement technology. The shared identity is precision engineering at industrial scale.
Are international postings real opportunities or relocations from Germany?
Both. Dürr's international subsidiaries hire locally for local roles — Dürr Systems Inc. in Southfield and Plymouth, Michigan posts US-based service engineers and project managers, Dürr Mexicana in Querétaro hires Mexican engineers and operators, Dürr Shanghai hires Chinese engineers and sales staff. There is also a meaningful flow of expatriate assignments from Germany outward, particularly for project engineers and commissioning engineers managing major paint-shop installations. International postings appear on the local subsidiary career sites more reliably than on the central Group board, so check both.
