Key Takeaways

  • 75% of U.S. employers use automated applicant tracking systems to screen resumes before a human reviews them (Harvard Business School & Accenture, 2021)
  • The most common ATS failures are missing keywords, incompatible formatting, and incorrect file types
  • ResumeGeni scores your resume across 8 parsing layers — modeled on the same steps enterprise ATS platforms like Workday, Greenhouse, and Taleo use to evaluate candidates

How ATS Resume Scoring Works

Applicant tracking systems parse your resume into structured data — extracting your name, contact info, work history, skills, and education — then score how well that data matches the job requirements. Many ATS rejections happen because the parser couldn't extract critical fields, not because the candidate wasn't qualified.

LayerWhat It ChecksWhy It Matters
Document extractionFile format, encoding, readabilityCorrupted or image-only PDFs fail immediately
Layout analysisTables, columns, headers, footersMulti-column layouts break field extraction
Section detectionExperience, education, skills headingsNon-standard headings cause sections to be missed
Field mappingName, email, phone, dates, titlesMissing contact info is a common cause of immediate rejection
Keyword matchingJob-specific terms, skills, certificationsKeyword overlap affects recruiter search visibility and ATS scoring
Chronology checkDate ordering, gap detectionReverse-chronological order is expected by most ATS

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ResumeGeni free?
Yes. ResumeGeni is currently in beta — ATS analysis, scoring, and initial improvement suggestions are free with no signup required. Full guidance and saved reports may require a free account.
What file formats are supported?
PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, RTF, ODT, and Apple Pages. PDF and DOCX are recommended for best ATS compatibility.
How is the ATS score calculated?
Your resume is processed through an 8-layer parsing pipeline that extracts structured data the same way enterprise ATS platforms do. The score reflects how completely and accurately your resume can be parsed, plus how well your content matches common ATS ranking criteria.
Can ATS read PDF resumes?
Yes, but not all PDFs are equal. Text-based PDFs parse well. Image-only PDFs (scanned documents) and PDFs with complex tables or multi-column layouts often fail ATS parsing. Our analyzer will flag these issues.
How do I improve my ATS score?
Focus on three areas: use a clean single-column format, include keywords from the job description naturally in your experience bullets, and ensure all sections (contact, experience, education, skills) use standard headings.

Company Overview:

Let’s be real, AI isn’t magic; Legion was built to move beyond AI hype—delivering secure, reliable systems that work alongside the people tackling the world’s most critical challenges.

Born from a DoW partnership and trusted by leaders across government and enterprise, Legion embeds intelligence inside complex systems, unlocking data, accelerating human workflows, and strengthening mission-critical systems. We don’t replace workflows; we optimize them, ensuring quality, efficiency, and reliability inside the platforms our partners already use.

With world-class collaborators like Nvidia, HPE, and Oracle, we’re building intelligent infrastructure that enhances human capability and drives impact at the edge and across a range of enterprises.

We’re looking for bold thinkers and doers to join us in shaping the future of AI that’s secure, grounded, and built to work.

The Role:

We’re seeking a Solutions Architect to showcase the power of our Generative AI platform to prospective customers and partners in the finance and accounting sectors. In this role, you’ll architect and implement proofs of concept (POCs) that demonstrate the measurable impact Legion Intelligence can deliver to financial operations, accounting workflows, and fiscal reporting processes.

You’ll educate prospects on how Legion’s AI capabilities improve data management, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency, while addressing common concerns such as hallucinations, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.

Internally, you’ll act as the voice of the customer, translating finance domain challenges into actionable product insights to help shape the evolution of Legion Intelligence’s offerings for financial applications.

This is a high-impact, cross-functional role that bridges pre-sales, product development, and customer success, requiring both technical fluency and business acumen.

Due to Government contract requirements, we are only able to hire US citizens or Green Card holders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect & Deliver POCs: Design and implement compelling technical demonstrations and proofs of concept tailored to prospective finance and accounting customers.
  • Pre-Sales Engagement: Partner with sales teams to identify customer pain points and craft technical solutions that highlight Legion Intelligence’s value.
  • Customer Relationship Building: Establish trust with technical and business stakeholders, providing clear assessments of AI readiness, compliance implications, and expected ROI.
  • Product Evangelism: Represent customer needs internally by sharing insights on financial workflows, ERP integration requirements, and emerging trends in AI adoption.
  • Partner Collaboration: Work with ERP, accounting tech, and financial services partners to build joint demos, integrations, and go-to-market assets.
  • Technical Leadership: Lead pre-sales presentations, workshops, and demos, translating technical AI concepts into business impact for non-technical audiences.
  • Continuous Improvement: Relay feedback to engineering and product teams to refine features, improve model performance, and enhance user experience for finance-specific use cases.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in pre-sales engineering or solutions architecture, ideally serving enterprise clients.
  • Ability to understand and translate AI capabilities for finance and accounting applications, such as data classification, reconciliation, and regulatory compliance automation.
  • Proficiency with Python or similar scripting languages.
  • Strong understanding of financial and accounting workflows, including opportunities for automation and AI-driven optimization.
  • Familiarity with major ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Workday).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a startup or fast-scaling technology environment.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with finance departments, accounting tech vendors, or ERP platform providers.
  • Experience designing AI or data automation solutions for financial operations, auditing, or compliance.

Why Legion Intelligence:

  • Opportunity to be at the forefront of enterprise AI adoption in one of the world’s most data-sensitive industries.
  • Work alongside experts in AI, data infrastructure, and enterprise sales.
  • Competitive compensation, remote flexibility, and a culture of curiosity, impact, and integrity.
