Key Takeaways

  • 75% of U.S. employers use automated applicant tracking systems to screen resumes before a human reviews them (Harvard Business School & Accenture, 2021)
  • The most common ATS failures are missing keywords, incompatible formatting, and incorrect file types
  • ResumeGeni scores your resume across 8 parsing layers — modeled on the same steps enterprise ATS platforms like Workday, Greenhouse, and Taleo use to evaluate candidates

How ATS Resume Scoring Works

Applicant tracking systems parse your resume into structured data — extracting your name, contact info, work history, skills, and education — then score how well that data matches the job requirements. Many ATS rejections happen because the parser couldn't extract critical fields, not because the candidate wasn't qualified.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ResumeGeni free?
Yes. ResumeGeni is currently in beta — ATS analysis, scoring, and initial improvement suggestions are free with no signup required. Full guidance and saved reports may require a free account.
What file formats are supported?
PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, RTF, ODT, and Apple Pages. PDF and DOCX are recommended for best ATS compatibility.
How is the ATS score calculated?
Your resume is processed through an 8-layer parsing pipeline that extracts structured data the same way enterprise ATS platforms do. The score reflects how completely and accurately your resume can be parsed, plus how well your content matches common ATS ranking criteria.
Can ATS read PDF resumes?
Yes, but not all PDFs are equal. Text-based PDFs parse well. Image-only PDFs (scanned documents) and PDFs with complex tables or multi-column layouts often fail ATS parsing. Our analyzer will flag these issues.
How do I improve my ATS score?
Focus on three areas: use a clean single-column format, include keywords from the job description naturally in your experience bullets, and ensure all sections (contact, experience, education, skills) use standard headings.

Position Summary

We're looking for a driven, relationship-oriented Account Executive to own and grow UniCourt's presence across the Southeast US market. This territory includes some of the fastest-growing legal markets in the country, with significant opportunity across large law firms headquartered or operating in the region.

You'll own the full sales cycle — from prospecting and pipeline development through negotiation and close — selling UniCourt's API-first legal data platform to large law firms and enterprises. The ideal candidate has deep familiarity with the Southeast legal landscape, existing relationships within large law, and a track record of selling enterprise B2B data or legal tech solutions. You're comfortable engaging C-Suite and innovation leaders, and you know how to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder deals.

This is a true hunter role. You'll be expected to build pipeline, develop territory strategy, and drive new business while collaborating closely with marketing, product, and customer success.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Own and execute a territory plan for the Southeast US, with a focus on large law firms across key metros including Atlanta, Miami, Charlotte, Nashville, Tampa, and Richmond.

  • Prospect, qualify, and close new enterprise accounts within the territory.

  • Build and maintain relationships with C-Suite executives, knowledge management leaders, and innovation teams at target firms.

  • Employ a consultative sales approach to understand client needs and position UniCourt's data platform as a tailored solution.

  • Manage complex deal cycles involving implementation, integration, and data partners.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product, and sales leadership to refine messaging, share market intelligence, and inform go-to-market strategy.

  • Represent UniCourt at Southeast regional legal industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events.

  • Stay current on competitive landscape, market trends, and developments in the Southeast legal market.

  • Drive individual sales targets while contributing to overall team objectives.

Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree required; JD or MBA preferred.

  • 5+ years of enterprise B2B sales experience, ideally selling data solutions, APIs, or legal technology to large law firms.

  • Demonstrated experience and existing relationships within the Southeast US legal market strongly preferred.

  • Experience selling to knowledge management, innovation, business intelligence, or information departments within large law.

  • Familiarity with structured data solutions including APIs, MDM, CDP, BI tools, and data analytics platforms.

  • Proven ability to manage multi-stakeholder deal cycles with implementation or integration partners.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.

  • Self-starter mentality with strong organizational skills and the ability to operate independently within a remote team.

  • Willingness to travel regularly within the Southeast territory and quarterly to corporate HQ.

Compensation

Base salary range: $100,000–$150,000, depending on experience and qualifications. This is a commission-eligible role, and on-target earnings will be discussed during the interview process. UniCourt is committed to transparent, equitable compensation practices and discusses compensation openly from the first conversation.

Benefits

Competitive compensation and benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental, and vision coverage, equity participation, and long-term growth opportunities within a fast-scaling legal technology company.
