Key Takeaways

  • 75% of U.S. employers use automated applicant tracking systems to screen resumes before a human reviews them (Harvard Business School & Accenture, 2021)
  • The most common ATS failures are missing keywords, incompatible formatting, and incorrect file types
  • ResumeGeni scores your resume across 8 parsing layers — modeled on the same steps enterprise ATS platforms like Workday, Greenhouse, and Taleo use to evaluate candidates

How ATS Resume Scoring Works

Applicant tracking systems parse your resume into structured data — extracting your name, contact info, work history, skills, and education — then score how well that data matches the job requirements. Many ATS rejections happen because the parser couldn't extract critical fields, not because the candidate wasn't qualified.

LayerWhat It ChecksWhy It Matters
Document extractionFile format, encoding, readabilityCorrupted or image-only PDFs fail immediately
Layout analysisTables, columns, headers, footersMulti-column layouts break field extraction
Section detectionExperience, education, skills headingsNon-standard headings cause sections to be missed
Field mappingName, email, phone, dates, titlesMissing contact info is a common cause of immediate rejection
Keyword matchingJob-specific terms, skills, certificationsKeyword overlap affects recruiter search visibility and ATS scoring
Chronology checkDate ordering, gap detectionReverse-chronological order is expected by most ATS

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ResumeGeni free?
Yes. ResumeGeni is currently in beta — ATS analysis, scoring, and initial improvement suggestions are free with no signup required. Full guidance and saved reports may require a free account.
What file formats are supported?
PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, RTF, ODT, and Apple Pages. PDF and DOCX are recommended for best ATS compatibility.
How is the ATS score calculated?
Your resume is processed through an 8-layer parsing pipeline that extracts structured data the same way enterprise ATS platforms do. The score reflects how completely and accurately your resume can be parsed, plus how well your content matches common ATS ranking criteria.
Can ATS read PDF resumes?
Yes, but not all PDFs are equal. Text-based PDFs parse well. Image-only PDFs (scanned documents) and PDFs with complex tables or multi-column layouts often fail ATS parsing. Our analyzer will flag these issues.
How do I improve my ATS score?
Focus on three areas: use a clean single-column format, include keywords from the job description naturally in your experience bullets, and ensure all sections (contact, experience, education, skills) use standard headings.

Solanafoundation · Remote-US

Who We Are

The Solana Foundation is a non-profit based in Zug, Switzerland, dedicated to the adoption, decentralization, and security of the Solana network. Solana is a high performance blockchain that can deliver a fast and friendly user experience, without sacrificing security. The Solana Foundation is working to realize a world where individuals own their data, use permissionless networks, and transfer information and value freely around the world. We are looking for talented people who are willing to jump right in and use their expertise to help the ecosystem build.

What We Do

The Solana Foundation Product team is responsible for working with internal and external teams to build tooling, infrastructure and scaffolds that help builders create better products across the ecosystem. The product team works full-stack to find solutions to acute problems and find collaboration opportunities to build standards, working groups and provision grants where appropriate.

The Opportunity

Solana Foundation is seeking a highly driven Infrastructure Engineer to join our Product team. This is a hybrid infrastructure role that spans both our web properties and our trading infrastructure. You'll be the person keeping token APIs, indexers, and frontend services running smoothly while also helping operate co-located nodes, and ETL data jobs. The ideal candidate is product-minded, comfortable context-switching between web infrastructure and low-latency trading systems, and committed to finding a balance between quality and shipping.

To be Successful in this role
You will:

  • Deploy, monitor, and scale the Foundation's suite of web properties (solana.com, developer tools, marketing sites) across public cloud providers, ensuring high availability for millions of users

  • Operate and maintain token APIs, trade and quote indexers and real-time data feeds that surface historical and live market data across Solana venues (perps, AMMs, CLOBs, Props)

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, release processes and terraform management to improve developer velocity and deployment confidence

  • Implement observability with logging, monitoring, alerting, and dashboards across both web services and trading infrastructure

  • Manage secrets, harden deployments and enforce security best practices across all environments

  • Set up and maintain data pipelines for network and trading venue behavior monitoring

  • Support trading infrastructure operations including co-located nodes, Jito shredstream proxies, TPU ingestion and shred distribution

  • Build and operate ETL pipelines and real-time data feeds with high levels of accuracy and uptime

  • Build proactive monitoring for transaction landing rates, shred delays, RPC errors, and trader health

  • Drive incident response, run post-mortems, and build continuous testing tools

  • Create technical documentation and runbooks that help the team operate and debug infrastructure independently

You ideally have:

  • 5+ years of experience in Devops, SRE or infrastructure engineering

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation)

  • Experience with public cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Cloudflare)

  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, BuldKite, CircleCI, etc)

  • Experience building and operating monitoring/alerting stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc)

  • Incident response experience and comfort with on-call rotations

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work asynchronously across time zones

Bonus Points

  • Experience with trading systems, market infrastructure, or latency-sensitive environments

  • Experience working with blockchain and blockchain based-tooling (Solana experience preferred but not required)
