About the Role
Sei Labs is looking for a Deputy General Counsel to help lead the legal function through the next phase of growth as Sei continues to bridge the gap between crypto and traditional finance. This role sits at the intersection of product, regulation, and innovation — supporting incubation efforts that push the boundaries of how digital asset markets operate globally.
You’ll partner directly with the General Counsel and cross-functional leaders to shape legal frameworks around next-generation financial products, ecosystem development, and new venture initiatives. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, adaptable, and comfortable making judgment calls in frontier environments.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior advisor to the General Counsel and executive leadership on legal, policy, and operational matters.
  • Oversee legal strategy for Sei’s cutting-edge incubations across DeFi, market structure, and real-world asset integrations.
  • Manage and mentor members of the legal team while scaling processes across multiple entities.
  • Lead engagements with regulators, industry bodies, and partners on emerging frameworks for digital asset innovation.
  • Oversee commercial, governance, and compliance matters with a focus on scalability and clarity.
  • Partner with business and product leads to enable compliant product launches and partnerships.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active U.S. bar membership.
  • 8+ years of legal experience, including significant in-house or fintech/crypto exposure.
  • Strong working knowledge of securities, commodities, and payments law.
  • Experience in managing teams and working with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and deeply curious about the evolving digital asset landscape.
