Key Takeaways

  • 75% of U.S. employers use automated applicant tracking systems to screen resumes before a human reviews them (Harvard Business School & Accenture, 2021)
  • The most common ATS failures are missing keywords, incompatible formatting, and incorrect file types
  • ResumeGeni scores your resume across 8 parsing layers — modeled on the same steps enterprise ATS platforms like Workday, Greenhouse, and Taleo use to evaluate candidates

How ATS Resume Scoring Works

Applicant tracking systems parse your resume into structured data — extracting your name, contact info, work history, skills, and education — then score how well that data matches the job requirements. Many ATS rejections happen because the parser couldn't extract critical fields, not because the candidate wasn't qualified.

Layout analysisTables, columns, headers, footersMulti-column layouts break field extraction
Section detectionExperience, education, skills headingsNon-standard headings cause sections to be missed
Field mappingName, email, phone, dates, titlesMissing contact info is a common cause of immediate rejection

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ResumeGeni free?
Yes. ResumeGeni is currently in beta — ATS analysis, scoring, and initial improvement suggestions are free with no signup required. Full guidance and saved reports may require a free account.
What file formats are supported?
PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, RTF, ODT, and Apple Pages. PDF and DOCX are recommended for best ATS compatibility.
How is the ATS score calculated?
Your resume is processed through an 8-layer parsing pipeline that extracts structured data the same way enterprise ATS platforms do. The score reflects how completely and accurately your resume can be parsed, plus how well your content matches common ATS ranking criteria.
Can ATS read PDF resumes?
Yes, but not all PDFs are equal. Text-based PDFs parse well. Image-only PDFs (scanned documents) and PDFs with complex tables or multi-column layouts often fail ATS parsing. Our analyzer will flag these issues.
How do I improve my ATS score?
Focus on three areas: use a clean single-column format, include keywords from the job description naturally in your experience bullets, and ensure all sections (contact, experience, education, skills) use standard headings.

About OnRamp

OnRamp transforms B2B customer onboarding into a revenue driver. Our platform automates workflows, streamlines playbooks, and accelerates time-to-value, helping enterprises reduce onboarding time by up to 70%. Backed by leading investors (we just raised our $15M Series A) and trusted by Fortune 15 companies, we’re redefining how companies bring new customers online.

We’ve built the system of record for post-sale workflows, powering onboarding and expansion for enterprise customers including Fortune 15 companies. Now we’re evolving that foundation into something much bigger: an intelligent system that actually does the work.

We’re building an agentic platform that eliminates friction in the B2B customer relationship.

About the Role

This is OnRamp's first dedicated UX design hire. You'll own the end-to-end design function across the full product — the internal application used by our customers' teams and the external portal experienced by their end customers. A major focus of this role is shaping how AI-powered experiences come to life in the product,as well as owning the end to end user experience.

You'll work directly with the Head of Product and a small, high-output engineering team. There is no existing design team or established design system to inherit — you'll be building the foundation. This is a high-autonomy role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, moves fast, and cares deeply about craft.

What You'll Do

  • Own UX across the full OnRamp product — internal app, customer portal, AI features, and integrations.

  • Design AI-native experiences: agent interfaces, human-in-the-loop patterns, & key AI interaction points.

  • Establish OnRamp's design foundation — patterns, components, interaction standards.

  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to go from problem framing through shipped work, often in compressed timelines.

  • Conduct user research to inform design decisions and validate direction.

  • Create flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mocks. Contribute to front-end implementation when it accelerates delivery.

  • Champion usability and coherence across a product that spans complex B2B workflows, configuration surfaces, and a consumer-grade portal experience.

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of product design experience in B2B SaaS, with a portfolio that demonstrates strong interaction design and systems thinking.

  • Experience designing AI-powered or intelligent features — you understand the unique UX challenges of non-deterministic systems, progressive disclosure of automation, and building user trust in AI.

  • Comfort operating as a solo designer embedded in a product and engineering organization. You don't need a design manager or a mature design ops function to do great work.

  • Strong opinions on craft, loosely held. You care about details but adapt quickly when context changes.

  • Ability to work across the full design stack — research, strategy, interaction design, visual design, and light prototyping or front-end contribution.

  • Excellent communication skills. You can articulate design rationale to engineers, product leaders, and executives clearly and concisely.

  • Experience with Figma (or equivalent) and familiarity with component-based UI frameworks (Vue, React, etc.) is a strong plus.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in customer onboarding, implementation, customer success, or adjacent post-sale workflows.

  • Background designing multi-persona products (internal users + external end customers).

  • Familiarity with design systems built on top of libraries like PrimeVue, Vuetify, or similar.

  • Prior experience at a Series A–C stage startup where you helped define the design culture from scratch.

Why This Role

  • First UX hire — you'll shape design at OnRamp from the ground up.

  • AI-forward product roadmap — OnRamp is building agentic AI into the core product, not bolting it on. You'll design the interfaces for that future.

  • High leverage — small team, direct access to leadership, fast shipping cadence, and real customer impact.

  • Complex, interesting problems — B2B workflow automation, multi-persona experiences, and the challenge of making powerful software feel simple.

Why OnRamp

  • Work directly with enterprise and mid-market clients, including Fortune 15 companies

  • Join a high-growth AI-first company that just raised its $15M Series A led by top investors

  • Be part of a collaborative, ownership-driven culture

  • Highly competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits

  • Boston-based, 3+ days a week in-office
