Key Takeaways

  • 75% of U.S. employers use automated applicant tracking systems to screen resumes before a human reviews them (Harvard Business School & Accenture, 2021)
  • The most common ATS failures are missing keywords, incompatible formatting, and incorrect file types
  • ResumeGeni scores your resume across 8 parsing layers — modeled on the same steps enterprise ATS platforms like Workday, Greenhouse, and Taleo use to evaluate candidates

How ATS Resume Scoring Works

Applicant tracking systems parse your resume into structured data — extracting your name, contact info, work history, skills, and education — then score how well that data matches the job requirements. Many ATS rejections happen because the parser couldn't extract critical fields, not because the candidate wasn't qualified.

LayerWhat It ChecksWhy It Matters
Document extractionFile format, encoding, readabilityCorrupted or image-only PDFs fail immediately
Layout analysisTables, columns, headers, footersMulti-column layouts break field extraction
Section detectionExperience, education, skills headingsNon-standard headings cause sections to be missed
Field mappingName, email, phone, dates, titlesMissing contact info is a common cause of immediate rejection
Keyword matchingJob-specific terms, skills, certificationsKeyword overlap affects recruiter search visibility and ATS scoring
Chronology checkDate ordering, gap detectionReverse-chronological order is expected by most ATS

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ResumeGeni free?
Yes. ResumeGeni is currently in beta — ATS analysis, scoring, and initial improvement suggestions are free with no signup required. Full guidance and saved reports may require a free account.
What file formats are supported?
PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, RTF, ODT, and Apple Pages. PDF and DOCX are recommended for best ATS compatibility.
How is the ATS score calculated?
Your resume is processed through an 8-layer parsing pipeline that extracts structured data the same way enterprise ATS platforms do. The score reflects how completely and accurately your resume can be parsed, plus how well your content matches common ATS ranking criteria.
Can ATS read PDF resumes?
Yes, but not all PDFs are equal. Text-based PDFs parse well. Image-only PDFs (scanned documents) and PDFs with complex tables or multi-column layouts often fail ATS parsing. Our analyzer will flag these issues.
How do I improve my ATS score?
Focus on three areas: use a clean single-column format, include keywords from the job description naturally in your experience bullets, and ensure all sections (contact, experience, education, skills) use standard headings.

Job Responsibilities:

Demand Forecasting & Ownership

  • Create and update demand forecasts—short, medium, and long term—for each product, project, customer, and customer spares.
  • Combine information from Sales, Project Management, Customer Support, and Operations into a unified demand overview.
  • Convert commercial agreements, project schedules, and installed-base requirements into demand projections that are distributed over time.
  • Record the assumptions, constraints, and risks associated with demand planning.
  • Customer Spares Planning

    • Take ownership of customer spares demand planning by managing forecast volumes, scheduling timing, and establishing prioritization. This involves closely monitoring customer needs and ensuring that spares demand is thoroughly planned and integrated within the overall supply chain strategy.
    • Build accurate spares forecasts by incorporating data from the installed base, service agreements, failure rates, and historical usage. This approach ensures that forecasting reflects real-world conditions and supports proactive inventory management.
    • Balance the demand for spares against production and project demand by identifying and communicating trade-offs as early as possible. This transparency enables the organization to anticipate and address potential conflicts, supporting smooth and efficient operations.
    • Clearly communicate customer spares demand requirements to Supply Chain Planning. This proactive communication helps prevent reactive shortages and ensures that supply can meet customer needs without disruption.
    • Prioritizing Demands & Weighing Trade-offs

    • Strategically prioritize demand based on revenue generation, customer value, delivery urgency, and alignment with key strategic or contractual commitments to ensure resources are allocated for maximum business impact.
    • Proactively identify and address demand conflicts, overcommitments, and volatility to maintain operational agility and prevent disruptions.
    • Develop and present robust demand scenarios and actionable options, empowering leadership and planning teams to make informed, data-driven decisions.
    • Actively manage and adapt to changes in demand resulting from customer schedule shifts, evolving project scopes, and updated spares requirements, ensuring supply plans remain aligned and resilient.
    • Systematically document and time-phase all changes, proactively communicating updates to stakeholders ahead of their impact on supply plans to enable seamless execution.
    • Lead regular demand review forums to validate committed and tentative demand, highlight significant changes or risks, and ensure cross-functional alignment of priorities across production, projects, and spares.
    • Serve as the principal authority on demand within planning discussions, ensuring that strategic objectives are reflected in all supply chain decisions.
    • Drive continuous improvement in demand planning methods, governance, and documentation.

    Qualifications:

  • Generally, a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or a related field.

  • Functional familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (ERP or WMS experience required).
  • Experience in ERP or WMS-related improvement projects or implementations.
  • Strong analytical skills; proven ability to work with supply chain KPIs and dashboards.
  • Experience documenting business requirements and supporting ERP configuration/testing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (e.g., Excel, Teams, SharePoint).
