Key Takeaways

  • 75% of U.S. employers use automated applicant tracking systems to screen resumes before a human reviews them (Harvard Business School & Accenture, 2021)
  • The most common ATS failures are missing keywords, incompatible formatting, and incorrect file types
  • ResumeGeni scores your resume across 8 parsing layers — modeled on the same steps enterprise ATS platforms like Workday, Greenhouse, and Taleo use to evaluate candidates

How ATS Resume Scoring Works

Applicant tracking systems parse your resume into structured data — extracting your name, contact info, work history, skills, and education — then score how well that data matches the job requirements. Many ATS rejections happen because the parser couldn't extract critical fields, not because the candidate wasn't qualified.

Layout analysisTables, columns, headers, footersMulti-column layouts break field extraction
Section detectionExperience, education, skills headingsNon-standard headings cause sections to be missed
Field mappingName, email, phone, dates, titlesMissing contact info is a common cause of immediate rejection

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ResumeGeni free?
Yes. ResumeGeni is currently in beta — ATS analysis, scoring, and initial improvement suggestions are free with no signup required. Full guidance and saved reports may require a free account.
What file formats are supported?
PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, RTF, ODT, and Apple Pages. PDF and DOCX are recommended for best ATS compatibility.
How is the ATS score calculated?
Your resume is processed through an 8-layer parsing pipeline that extracts structured data the same way enterprise ATS platforms do. The score reflects how completely and accurately your resume can be parsed, plus how well your content matches common ATS ranking criteria.
Can ATS read PDF resumes?
Yes, but not all PDFs are equal. Text-based PDFs parse well. Image-only PDFs (scanned documents) and PDFs with complex tables or multi-column layouts often fail ATS parsing. Our analyzer will flag these issues.
How do I improve my ATS score?
Focus on three areas: use a clean single-column format, include keywords from the job description naturally in your experience bullets, and ensure all sections (contact, experience, education, skills) use standard headings.

This role is responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting a wide range of low‑voltage cabling systems that support day‑to‑day operations and live event execution.

You’ll serve as a hands‑on technical partner to Facilities, Engineering, and other Arena Operations teams, ensuring cabling systems are installed to standard, maintained with care, and ready to perform in high‑pressure, time‑sensitive environments. Your work will directly impact the safety, functionality, and behind‑the‑scenes excellence that make large‑scale events possible.

If you’re detail‑oriented, technically skilled, and thrive in a fast‑paced venue environment where quality and responsiveness matter, this role offers meaningful responsibility and visibility within Arena Operations.

In This Role You Will

Cabling Operations & Installation Execution

  • Install, route, and secure low voltage cabling of various types (copper, coax, and fiber as applicable);
  • Terminate, label, and test new cabling installations to industry standards;
  • Install and maintain associated infrastructure, including J hooks, cable tray, conduit, raceways, and patch panels;
  • Set up and expand telecommunications and data frames;
  • Remove abandoned or unused cabling in accordance with best practices;
  • Ensure all cabling work complies with National, State, and Local building codes and standards;
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas after every installation or repair;
  • Track, secure, and properly maintain all tools and equipment.

Technical Skills & Systems Knowledge

  • Execute work according to detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
  • Perform precise cable dressing in racks and public facing areas to venue standards.

 Documentation, Quality & Venue Standards

  • Accurately document all cabling work, including test results, changes, and as built updates;
  • Deliver clean, professional, and “invisible” installations that meet the venue’s standard of care;
  • Maintain awareness of sensitive systems and critical infrastructure while working.

 Operational Environment & Event Readiness

  • Adapt quickly to changing requirements during live events and time critical scenarios;
  • Troubleshoot issues under pressure with minimal downtime tolerance;
  • Work safely on extension ladders and scissor lifts;
  • Comfortable working in secure and restricted areas with professionalism and discretion.

 Collaboration & Professionalism

  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills;
  • Communicates effectively and collaborates across departments;
  • Assist other trades and departments as needed (e.g., electricians, carpenters, building operators) to meet project schedules;
  • Thrive in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.

 Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry 50–75 lbs;
  • Ability to stand, climb, bend, and work overhead for extended periods.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • At least five years of experience or similar work experience;
  • Thorough technical knowledge to perform duties as outlined above;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Superior organizational skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast paced environment;
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong customer service orientation;
  • Ability to work games and events on a rotating schedule.

Nice to Have:

  • Must be knowledgeable in various wiring configurations and terminations.
  • Technical skills and knowledge of telecommunications industry and/or installation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and trace cabling.
  • Familiar with punch down blocks and structured cabling.
