Key Takeaways

  • 75% of U.S. employers use automated applicant tracking systems to screen resumes before a human reviews them (Harvard Business School & Accenture, 2021)
  • The most common ATS failures are missing keywords, incompatible formatting, and incorrect file types
  • ResumeGeni scores your resume across 8 parsing layers — modeled on the same steps enterprise ATS platforms like Workday, Greenhouse, and Taleo use to evaluate candidates

How ATS Resume Scoring Works

Applicant tracking systems parse your resume into structured data — extracting your name, contact info, work history, skills, and education — then score how well that data matches the job requirements. Many ATS rejections happen because the parser couldn't extract critical fields, not because the candidate wasn't qualified.

Layout analysisTables, columns, headers, footersMulti-column layouts break field extraction

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ResumeGeni free?
Yes. ResumeGeni is currently in beta — ATS analysis, scoring, and initial improvement suggestions are free with no signup required. Full guidance and saved reports may require a free account.
What file formats are supported?
PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, RTF, ODT, and Apple Pages. PDF and DOCX are recommended for best ATS compatibility.
How is the ATS score calculated?
Your resume is processed through an 8-layer parsing pipeline that extracts structured data the same way enterprise ATS platforms do. The score reflects how completely and accurately your resume can be parsed, plus how well your content matches common ATS ranking criteria.
Can ATS read PDF resumes?
Yes, but not all PDFs are equal. Text-based PDFs parse well. Image-only PDFs (scanned documents) and PDFs with complex tables or multi-column layouts often fail ATS parsing. Our analyzer will flag these issues.
How do I improve my ATS score?
Focus on three areas: use a clean single-column format, include keywords from the job description naturally in your experience bullets, and ensure all sections (contact, experience, education, skills) use standard headings.

Private Equity Operations Associate

Lyratechgroup · Chicago, IL

Lyra Technology Group is a private equity-backed holding company that invests and operates industry leading technology service businesses. Our companies are operated independently by exceptional management teams. Companies that join our group retain the employees, name, and culture that have made them successful. As a platform of Evergreen Services Group, we never divest from businesses we partner with and approach every decision with the goal of driving sustainable and healthy growth over the long term.

Private Equity Operations Associate, Lyra Technology Group

Lyra Technology Group is looking for a talented Associate to join our team!  This is an opportunity to learn about private equity operations, the technology business, and build operational, financial, and management skills.

What sets us apart are three things: our buy and hold strategy, our company’s local autonomous management, and our scale.

  1. Unlike typical Private Equity investments with a three-to-five-year liquidation strategy, we partner with businesses and invest in them for the long-term. We believe in the value of our acquisitions and want to grow.
  2. We partnered with our companies because they already had success in the marketplace. Instead of asking them to conform to a unified platform, we allow companies to keep their team, culture and branding in place.
  3. We enjoy the best of both worlds, small company culture and big business resources. We leverage our collective scale for strategic partnerships, peer insights, and shared best-in-class resources.

Your work as an Associate involves several components:

  1. Sit in our Chicago headquarters office as part of the Finance Operations team and support our Operating Companies to support value creation efforts, getting hands on mentorship from senior leaders and working close collaboration with a Lyra Regional CEO
  2. Support new M&A activity with initial underwriting, valuation, due diligence, and onboarding
  3. Learn the metrics and KPIs of our businesses, allowing contributions to platform-wide projects and initiatives.
  4. Develop cross-functional skills in areas like operations and people management.
  5. Work closely with our Leadership Team to better understand our strategy and how to executive.

We are looking for smart, motivated future leaders who are looking to “roll up their sleeves” and hungry to make an impact by stewarding a business over the long-term. We have had tremendous success in empowering talented analysts early in their career and giving them more responsibility than others would be comfortable with. We offer exceptional people the opportunity to meaningfully accelerate their career trajectory.

If starting your career in the private equity tech space sounds appealing to you, let’s have a conversation.
