Key Takeaways

  • 75% of U.S. employers use automated applicant tracking systems to screen resumes before a human reviews them (Harvard Business School & Accenture, 2021)
  • The most common ATS failures are missing keywords, incompatible formatting, and incorrect file types
  • ResumeGeni scores your resume across 8 parsing layers — modeled on the same steps enterprise ATS platforms like Workday, Greenhouse, and Taleo use to evaluate candidates

How ATS Resume Scoring Works

Applicant tracking systems parse your resume into structured data — extracting your name, contact info, work history, skills, and education — then score how well that data matches the job requirements. Many ATS rejections happen because the parser couldn't extract critical fields, not because the candidate wasn't qualified.

LayerWhat It ChecksWhy It Matters

Layout analysisTables, columns, headers, footersMulti-column layouts break field extraction
Section detectionExperience, education, skills headingsNon-standard headings cause sections to be missed
Field mappingName, email, phone, dates, titlesMissing contact info is a common cause of immediate rejection

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ResumeGeni free?
Yes. ResumeGeni is currently in beta — ATS analysis, scoring, and initial improvement suggestions are free with no signup required. Full guidance and saved reports may require a free account.
What file formats are supported?
PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, RTF, ODT, and Apple Pages. PDF and DOCX are recommended for best ATS compatibility.
How is the ATS score calculated?
Your resume is processed through an 8-layer parsing pipeline that extracts structured data the same way enterprise ATS platforms do. The score reflects how completely and accurately your resume can be parsed, plus how well your content matches common ATS ranking criteria.
Can ATS read PDF resumes?
Yes, but not all PDFs are equal. Text-based PDFs parse well. Image-only PDFs (scanned documents) and PDFs with complex tables or multi-column layouts often fail ATS parsing. Our analyzer will flag these issues.
How do I improve my ATS score?
Focus on three areas: use a clean single-column format, include keywords from the job description naturally in your experience bullets, and ensure all sections (contact, experience, education, skills) use standard headings.

🌍 Our International Expansion team

As the driving force that will make Joko a globally successful company, the International Expansion team embodies boundless ambition. The team is responsible for designing the strategy that will take Joko to multiple countries and for coordinating all teams so we deliver fast and efficiently.

The International Expansion team reports to Xavier, our CEO. It is made of a central team and local country teams. The central team is composed of the Head of International Expansion, an International Expansion Manager, and an International Expansion Intern. Together, they build the playbooks, foundations, and operating model that enable Joko to launch and scale successfully across markets. Local country teams are led by a Country Launcher and bring deep local expertise across the key functions needed to launch and grow Joko in-market.

Our mission is to turn Joko into a globally used product. After the US, we are preparing the next chapter of our expansion with Spain as our next country launch in 2027.

🎯 What you will do

As Country Launcher, Spain, your main mission is to launch Joko in Spain and turn it into a successful new country. You will own Spain’s launch, building the foundations, driving execution, and coordinating teams across the company to get Spain from zero to momentum. You will report to the Head of International Expansion and work closely with Joko’s founders, the central International Expansion team and the International Expansion Task Force. Based in Spain, you’ll work alongside an established Spain-based team of 10+ people (and counting).

Your missions will notably include:

  • Define the Spain launch strategy and roadmap: Build the plan for launching and winning in Spain, align leadership on the ambition, and translate strategy into a clear execution roadmap with milestones.

  • Own Spain’s end-to-end execution: Drive all key launch workstreams hands-on, from market analysis and competitive insights to local positioning and operational readiness, with high standards of speed and quality.

  • Build and lead the local Spain launch team: Recruit, onboard, and directly manage the first local team, and set the operating rhythm that enables fast, high-quality delivery.

  • Coordinate cross-functionally to make Joko Spain-ready: Partner with Product, Engineering, Data, Ops, Care, Finance, Legal, and People to ensure the product, processes, and tooling work smoothly for Spain from day one.

  • Drive local traction across B2B and B2C: Secure the right local partners and ecosystem presence to make Joko valuable from day one, while also shaping the go-to-market approach in Spain. Define the local positioning and messaging, and work with Growth, Brand, and Campaigns to build a user acquisition plan that resonates with Spanish users and compounds over time.

  • Own performance, insights, and course-correction: Track Spain performance closely, surface actionable insights, and adapt the plan fast based on what the data and the market tell us.

👀 Who we're looking for

  • Experience: You have around 10 years of experience in fast-paced environments and a strong track record of leading complex, cross-functional initiatives with high ownership and managing small teams. You have experience navigating the Spanish consumer market, shaping go-to-market strategies, and driving growth for consumer brands or products.

  • Language and location: You have native-level Spanish, you are fluent in English, and you are based in Spain.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset: You love building from scratch, getting hands-on, and taking ownership to make things happen in ambiguous environments.

  • Commercial acumen: You have strong commercial relationship management skills and you’re comfortable networking and building partnerships through local industry events and partner meetings.

  • Problem solving: You are highly analytical and structured. You can break down ambiguous problems, use data to make decisions, and move fast without losing rigor.

  • Execution: You can run multiple workstreams in parallel, prioritize ruthlessly, and deliver at speed with a high bar for quality.

  • Communication: You communicate with clarity and structure, and you can align diverse stakeholders around crisp priorities and decisions.

  • Leadership: You attract great talent, build trust, and help people perform at their best in a fast-moving environment.
