ICON is seeking a Print Operations Technician I to support our Print Operations team. In this role, you will demonstrate and maintain the foundational skills and knowledge required to provide basic support for ICON’s print operations. Basic support involves managing the logistics of raw materials, consumables, parts, and printers. You will also assist with troubleshooting, maintenance, and general service tasks related to ICON's 3D printers. Under the direction of Leads, Technicians, or Managers, you will receive daily instructions and apply your skills to complete a variety of field assignments.

This role involves working on moderately challenging tasks that require some judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations, with an emphasis on escalating larger problems when needed. You are expected to approach each task with a growth mindset, focus on building new skills, and actively work to avoid repeating mistakes. Operational discipline, attention to detail, and adherence to ICON’s policies and standards are essential for success in this position. This role is based in Austin, TX, and will require travel outside of the area for extended durations. This position reports to the Print Operations Manager.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the delivery, inventory management, and organization of building materials during shifts.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with team members and other departments across ICON.
  • Operate Vulcan and Magma systems to meet daily production targets.
  • Work closely with Print Ops Leads, taking instructions and contributing to the team’s objectives.
  • Perform build activities, including reinforcement adjustment and placement as needed.
  • Execute and document QC measurements on material samples during operations. 
  • Assist in diagnosing and repairing printer issues, including coordinating parts, performing replacements, and conducting calibrations.
  • Operate diagnostic tools such as multimeters to troubleshoot and address technical problems.
  • Manage inventory and delivery of replacement parts, ensuring accurate documentation and tracking within ticketing systems.
  • Update and maintain detailed work steps and resolutions in ticketing systems to ensure consistent and transparent communication.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of mechanical systems and components.
  • Work with electrical wiring and components as required.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Provide real-time, proactive reporting on progress updates, milestones, and activities related to prints, mobilizations, and builds.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or related fields.
  • Basic proficiency with diagnostic tools such as multimeters to troubleshoot and assess electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems, including a basic understanding of components and their functions.
  • Familiarity with electrical wiring and components, with the ability to perform tasks under supervision.
  • Basic understanding of inventory management systems or ticketing systems for tracking parts and documenting work steps (training provided by ICON).
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery under supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document work and collaborate with team members effectively.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn, with a proactive attitude toward problem-solving.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds safely and regularly.
  • Comfortable working in various outdoor environments, including extreme temperatures (above 100°F or below freezing), sun, rain, mud, and areas with limited infrastructure (e.g., lack of electricity).
  • Comfortable standing and moving on your feet for the majority of the workday as well as climbing ladders and carrying material buckets.
  • Willingness to travel outside of Austin, TX, for multiple weeks at a time.
  • Flexible availability to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work in Austin, TX, and surrounding areas (up to 50 miles).
