Overview: 
We are looking for a Staff Scalability Engineer with expertise in Cloud systems (preferably AWS) to lead optimization, monitoring, and tuning our existing cloud infrastructure.  You will play a crucial role in identifying and implementing changes to our application’s infrastructure and architecture to improve platform availability and scalability. This role will work across multiple, small, cross-functional engineering groups to help our application meet rapidly growing, global demand.    

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead capacity planning, autoscaling, and performance optimization across our application. 
  • Define and enforce best practices for scalability, reliability, observability, and infrastructure resilience. 
  • Conduct architectural reviews and propose improvements to enhance performance and cost efficiency. 
  • Partner with engineering teams on the implementation of micro service infrastructure (API gateways, containerization strategies, etc.) with an eye toward data contract and scalability best practices. 
  • Implement and improve metrics systems to diagnose performance bottlenecks using modern tooling (e.g., CloudWatch, X-Ray, OpenTelemetry, Splunk). 
  • Partner with engineering teams to help enforce SLOs/SLAs. 
  • Lead incident response initiatives for high-severity cloud infrastructure issues. 
  • Provide solutions to enable production teams to measure and predict cloud costs against resource utilization. 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimal 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, SRE, or cloud infrastructure roles. 
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar field, or commensurate experience.. 
  • Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation). 
  • Deep familiarity with AWS native services, particularly: ECS, EC2, EKS, S3, CloudFront, CloudWatch, KMS, RDS and LZA configuration. 
  • Experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and service mesh technologies. 
  • Strong scripting / automation experience (Python, Bash, Go, or similar).
