Key Takeaways

  • 75% of U.S. employers use automated applicant tracking systems to screen resumes before a human reviews them (Harvard Business School & Accenture, 2021)
  • The most common ATS failures are missing keywords, incompatible formatting, and incorrect file types
  • ResumeGeni scores your resume across 8 parsing layers — modeled on the same steps enterprise ATS platforms like Workday, Greenhouse, and Taleo use to evaluate candidates

How ATS Resume Scoring Works

Applicant tracking systems parse your resume into structured data — extracting your name, contact info, work history, skills, and education — then score how well that data matches the job requirements. Many ATS rejections happen because the parser couldn't extract critical fields, not because the candidate wasn't qualified.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ResumeGeni free?
Yes. ResumeGeni is currently in beta — ATS analysis, scoring, and initial improvement suggestions are free with no signup required. Full guidance and saved reports may require a free account.
What file formats are supported?
PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, RTF, ODT, and Apple Pages. PDF and DOCX are recommended for best ATS compatibility.
How is the ATS score calculated?
Your resume is processed through an 8-layer parsing pipeline that extracts structured data the same way enterprise ATS platforms do. The score reflects how completely and accurately your resume can be parsed, plus how well your content matches common ATS ranking criteria.
Can ATS read PDF resumes?
Yes, but not all PDFs are equal. Text-based PDFs parse well. Image-only PDFs (scanned documents) and PDFs with complex tables or multi-column layouts often fail ATS parsing. Our analyzer will flag these issues.
How do I improve my ATS score?
Focus on three areas: use a clean single-column format, include keywords from the job description naturally in your experience bullets, and ensure all sections (contact, experience, education, skills) use standard headings.

Executive Business Partner

Executive Business Partner

Location: Charlotte, NC

About the Role

We're looking for a sharp, versatile communications and strategy partner to work directly alongside our CEO. This is not a traditional executive assistant role — this person will be the CEO's right hand in translating strategy into polished, high-impact materials for partners, leadership, and the board.

The core of this role is building exceptional presentations and executive-ready content. You'll take complex strategic ideas and turn them into clear, compelling decks for partner conversations, board meetings, investor discussions, and internal leadership forums. You'll also draft CEO-level communications to the company and external stakeholders, and lead the planning and execution of leadership offsites and company events.

This role wears a lot of hats — including some office management responsibilities — but the person who thrives here will be someone who sees the full picture, operates with ownership, and treats every deliverable like it matters. Because it does.

What You’ll Do

Executive Materials & Presentations (Primary Focus)

  • Build strategy decks, partner-facing presentations, and board materials from concept through final polish
  • Translate the CEO's ideas, data, and strategic direction into visually sharp, narrative-driven slides
  • Develop and maintain a library of reusable templates, frameworks, and brand-consistent assets
  • Create internal leadership presentations, one-pagers, and briefing documents
  • Ensure all materials reflect a high bar for clarity, design, and storytelling

Event & Offsite Planning

  • Lead end-to-end planning for executive offsites, leadership summits, and company-wide events
  • Own venue selection, vendor coordination, agendas, travel logistics, and day-of execution
  • Travel with senior leadership for bi-annual offsites as needed
  • Partner with leadership to design experiences that are purposeful, well-run, and reflective of company culture
  • Manage event budgets, contracts, and post-event follow-through

CEO Communications

  • Draft company-wide emails, announcements, and internal messages on behalf of the CEO
  • Prepare talking points, meeting agendas, and follow-up communications for executive and external meetings
  • Manage confidential correspondence with discretion and professionalism
  • Coordinate scheduling and logistics across executives, partners, and board members

Office Operations

  • Serve as the Charlotte office manager — keeping the space organized, stocked, and running smoothly
  • Manage office vendors, supplies, and facilities coordination
  • Support in-office meetings, events, and day-to-day workspace needs

About You

  • 5+ years of experience in a role that blended executive support with strategic communications — chief of staff, corporate comms, strategy & ops, or management consulting backgrounds all work
  • Exceptional deck-building skills — you're the person people come to when something needs to look great and tell a clear story. Advanced proficiency in Google Slides (or PowerPoint) is a must
  • Strong written communication — you can draft a CEO-level company email that sounds human, direct, and on-brand
  • Event planning chops — you've planned offsites, leadership retreats, or company events and know how to manage the details without losing sight of the experience
  • High EQ and executive presence — you're comfortable in a room with senior leaders, board members, and external partners
  • Ownership mentality — you don't wait to be told what needs to happen; you see it and handle it
  • Discretion and judgment — you'll be exposed to sensitive strategic, financial, and personnel information and can be trusted completely
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where priorities shift and no two weeks look the same
