To satisfy the needs of our growing institutional client base, Hamilton Lane is looking to hire a Vice President to join our Client Solutions team. In this role, you will work to expand the firm’s institutional client base, establishing new relationships and partnering with existing client and consultant relationships to maintain and grow our business across commingled funds and separate accounts. You will leverage your ability to communicate effectively, present complex private markets strategies, and operate in a fast‑paced, results‑driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Fundraising and business development
- Raise capital from institutional investors and consultants for Hamilton Lane’s global private markets products and separate accounts.
- Conduct research to identify and prioritize prospective investors and new business opportunities.
- Attend and actively participate in investor and prospect meetings, communicating Hamilton Lane’s value proposition and strategies.
- Client and consultant relationship management
- Deepen relationships with existing institutional clients and key consultants to support retention and growth across mandates.
- Partner with the consultant relations team to coordinate coverage of select consulting firms and field consultants.
- Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact on Hamilton Lane’s commingled funds, strategies, and market views.
- Sales process and pipeline management
- Maintain accurate and timely CRM data following investor interactions, ensuring visibility into pipeline and activities.
- Help build and support marketing and outreach campaigns by leveraging existing CRM contacts and identifying new prospects.
- Review Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs) prepared by internal support teams for completeness, accuracy, and positioning.
- Planning, coordination, and execution
- Work closely with senior Client Solutions leadership to develop and execute a business plan to grow the institutional client base in assigned coverage.
- Coordinate and schedule conference calls, client meetings, roadshows, and investor events.
- Manage multiple concurrent initiatives and deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism.
Required qualifications
- 7–10 years of work experience in the financial services industry, with meaningful time in institutional client‑facing roles (e.g., sales, relationship management, or consultant relations).
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S., or B.B.A.) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated success raising capital from, or managing relationships with, institutional investors and/or their consultants.
- Proven ability to present complex investment strategies to sophisticated audiences, both in writing and verbally.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to tailor messages to different stakeholders.
- High level of organization and attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments and initiatives in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively for client, consultant, and prospect meetings and events.
Nice-to-have qualifications
- Experience raising capital for, or working with, private markets strategies (e.g., private equity, private credit, real assets, infrastructure).
- Existing relationships with a broad network of institutional investors and/or investment consultants.
- Prior experience at an asset management or alternative investments firm in a dedicated fundraising, consultant relations, or institutional sales role.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and data‑driven sales management practices.
- Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) and/or professional designation such as CFA or CAIA.
- Additional language skills and experience covering global institutional markets.
Work Arrangement:
Hybrid: Employees work from a HL office Monday – Thursday
