About the Position

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented ERCOT Strategic Director to join our North America team with a strong focus on the Texas energy market. This role is critical informing business development and expanding our footprint across the greater Austin, TX region while also leveraging deep knowledge of the ERCOT and broader U.S. power markets. Working autonomously, the ERCOT Strategic Director will collaborate closely with the Regional VP (West) to develop and execute strategic initiatives while applying established industry relationships, regional market expertise, and consultative software-sales capabilities.

This position will oversee the full commercial cycle across greater Austin, serving as the primary commercial point of contact while collaborating with a virtual portfolio team to engage, retain, enable, and expand Energy Exemplar’s customer base, covering both current clients and new prospects. The role requires the ability to connect regional and state-level market developments—particularly within Texas and ERCOT—to broader national energy trends and regulatory dynamics.

They will be responsible for building and qualifying pipelines through creative and strategic activities, cultivating executive-level relationships, and converting qualified opportunities into closed deals with the support of technical and solution teams. These activities will align with new-logo methodology and modern SaaS-driven CRM processes.

 

Responsibilities

  • Identify new business opportunities across greater Austin and adjacent energy markets.
  • Meet or exceed personal financial targets aligned with annual corporate objectives.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline using modern CRM and sales enablement tools such as Salesforce including CPQ, HubSpot, and ZoomInfo.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of platform technologies and SaaS-based solutions, positioning complex software offerings in a consultative, value-driven environment.
  • Participate in internal customer account planning with Customer Success teams to identify upsell and expansion opportunities. Partner with Marketing to execute focused campaigns that build pipeline within existing and prospective customer segments.
  • Conduct outbound prospecting and multi-level networking from end users to executive stakeholders using value-based engagement approaches.
  • Develop and maintain deep knowledge of energy market structures, regulatory developments, and industry trends including ERCOT and Texas market dynamics informing strategic direction.
  • Serve as manager of the end-to-end commercial process from prospect sourcing and product demonstrations through trials, negotiations, and contract execution. Perform ongoing market research to identify new prospects, service opportunities, and evolving market segments.

 

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in enterprise software sales, energy consulting, or strategic technology commercialization.
  • Direct experience in the power and utilities sector, ideally with large utilities, IPPs, ISO/RTO participants, or energy-focused consultancies.
  • Deep understanding of the Texas power and energy market including hands-on familiarity with ERCOT market structures, stakeholders, and processes.
  • Established credibility and professional network within the ERCOT ecosystem.
  • Strong awareness of energy industry trends, challenges, and regulatory dynamics with the ability to connect state-level and national developments.
  • Proven ability to position complex SaaS and platform-based technologies in consultative enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce including CPQ and familiarity with HubSpot, ZoomInfo, and modern sales enablement tooling.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding revenue targets and driving new market growth.
  • Significant customer-facing experience guiding enterprise clients through business or technology transformation initiatives.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required up to 50% of the time.
