Group Sanction Manager LATM/Brazil

Ebury Sao Paulo Office - Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home per week

The Group Sanctions Manager (LATAM/Brazil) is responsible for ensuring that Ebury’s operations across Brazil and Latin America, are fully aligned with the Group Sanctions Policy and Global Sanctions Risk appetite This role serves as the key technical lead for identifying and mitigating sanctions risk within the region, ensuring that local regulatory nuances are integrated into the global framework without compromising Ebury’s risk appetite.

What you’ll do

  • Policy Alignment: Implement and maintain the Group Sanctions Standard across all LATAM entities, ensuring consistency between local and global requirements.
  • Advisory & Escalation: Act as the senior point of escalation for sanctions alerts, providing definitive guidance on related sanctions exposure.
  • Regional Oversight: Provide dedicated oversight of the LATAM/Brazil risk landscape.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Keep up to date with local Sanctions in Brazil and other LATAM markets, ensuring Ebury remains compliant with both local laws and international standards (OFAC, EU, UK).
  • Stakeholder Management: Work closely with the local MLROs in LATM and Group Head of Sanction in London as well as local front office colleagues.
  • Training & Culture: Deliver specialised sanctions training to regional teams to improve the quality of initial frontline screening and risk awareness. 

What you’ll need

  • Sanctions Expertise: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Sanctions compliance within FinTech, FX, or Corporate Banking.
  • Regional Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Brazilian and broader LATAM regulatory environment, including local Central Bank requirements.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proven ability to analyse complex corporate structures and international trade finance documentation.
  • Global Standards: Strong working knowledge of OFAC, EU, and UK sanctions regimes.
  • Communication: Native or business-fluent Portuguese and English are essential; Spanish is highly advantageous.
  • Decisiveness: Ability to make firm, risk-based decisions under pressure and within strict SLAs.
